Sports Mole previews Saturday's National League clash between Yeovil Town and Halifax Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Yeovil Town are seeking to win back-to-back home games when they welcome Halifax Town to Huish Park on Saturday.

The visitors are unbeaten in their last three outings, and they will be looking to continue their improved National League form here.

Match preview

Yeovil looked to have turned their fortunes around in recent weeks, drawing with title-chasing Notts County last time out after beating Gateshead and sharing the spoils with Maidenhead United.

Mark Cooper will be hoping his side can extend this unbeaten run, as the Glovers currently sit in 19th place in the National League, just two points clear of the relegation places.

Yeovil are aiming to make it back-to-back victories at Huish Park on Saturday, something they have not managed to achieve so far this season. The Glovers have struggled for consistency this term, winning three, drawing 10 and losing seven of their 20 outings so far.

One big positive for Cooper, however, is his side's defensive displays in recent weeks – Yeovil have only conceded three goals in their last five matches.

In fact, only five teams have conceded fewer goals than the Glovers this season, and they all currently sit in the top half of the table, suggesting that Yeovil's biggest concerns are at the other end of the pitch.

After the postponement of Tuesday's clash with Dorking Wanderers, Halifax now turn their attention to a trip to Huish Park this weekend.

The Shaymen are looking to extend their unbeaten run here after beating Boreham Wood 1-0 at the Shay Stadium last Saturday.

Robert Harker scored the only goal of the game just before the hour mark to give Halifax all three points and their fourth consecutive home win, and that result means they come into this weekend sat in 14th position in the table.

The Shaymen's games have tended to be low-scoring affairs of late, and they are the league's joint-second lowest scorers – their opponents on Saturday are the only team that have scored fewer.

On the other hand, there have been very promising signs from Chris Millington's side at the other end of the pitch, as they look a well-organised unit in defence, picking up two clean sheets in their last three games.

Team News

Morgan Williams returned for the home side against Notts County alongside Owen Bevan and Max Hunt, so they could retain their places in the starting XI here.

Alex Fisher scored a brace against Gateshead two weeks ago, and led the line last time out, so it seems likely that he will start up top once again.

Charlie Wakefield missed the clash against County, however, Lawson D'Ath returned to the squad last time out, so he could be involved at the weekend.

As for the visitors, Tom Clarke remains out with an Achilles injury, while top scorer Emmanuel Dieseruvwe may well come back into the frontline after serving his one-game suspension.

Halifax could also be boosted by a triple return on Saturday, with Jordan Slew, Festus Arthur and Jordan Keane all edging closer to a return from injury and real possibilities to make the squad.

Yeovil Town possible starting lineup:
Smith; Johnson, Bevan, Andrews, Reckford; Hunt, Staunton, Worthington, Georgiou; Fisher, Oluwabori

Halifax Town possible starting lineup:
Johnson; Golden, Debrah, Stott, Senior; Capello, Spence, Summerfield, Gilmour; Dieseruvwe, Harker

We say: Yeovil Town 1-1 Halifax Town

Yeovil and Halifax have improved defensively in recent weeks, but both teams struggle to find the back of the net on a consistent basis, so we can see this one being a low-scoring affair.

The Glovers won this fixture at Huish Park 1-0 last season, but we think Halifax have enough quality to avoid a repeat of that result.
