Sports Mole previews Tuesday's National League clash between Altrincham and Maidenhead United, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Altrincham will look to continue their impressive form in the National League when they take on Maidenhead United on Tuesday.

The hosts come into this one off the back of a victory over Wrexham in the FA Trophy, while the visitors enter the fray off the back of a win over Dagenham and Redbridge in the same competition.

Match preview

Altrincham have had a decent season so far, as they occupy ninth in the National League standings with 33 points in 25 matches under Phil Parkinson.

The Robins are on an unbeaten stretch that currently stands at nine games, demonstrating their resilient nature, which has pleased supporters.

Last time out, Altrincham recorded an impressive win on penalties against Wrexham in the FA Trophy in a fixture that ended 2-2 in normal time.

Their home form has built a solid foundation for their steady showings in 2022-23, leading Altrincham to lose just three times in 12 matches at the J. Davidson Stadium.

All focus will now turn towards Tuesday, where a win over Maidenhead could move them as high as seventh in the table.

On the other hand, Maidenhead also come into this one in good spirits and will be seeking to rise up the table with a win over Altrincham.

Long-serving boss Alan Devonshire has presided over another decent campaign, with the Magpies currently sitting 17th in the table with 29 points from 26 encounters.

In their most recent outing, Shawn McCoulsky and Charlee Adams secured progression to the next round of the FA Trophy away to Dagenham and Redbridge.

That was their first win in five, and they will be aiming to build on their positive momentum going into Tuesday against Altrincham.

Maidenhead could move into 15th in the league with a win if other results in the division fall their way.

Team News

Altrincham may give Lewis Baines another opportunity to start in light of his impressive performance against Wrexham in the FA Trophy.

Toby Mullarkey is expected to partner him at the back, while Elliot Osborne could start in midfield for the Robins.

Marcus Dinanga could be given an opportunity to spearhead the attack for the hosts as they eye victory.

For the visitors, Shawn McCoulsky and Emile Acquah are expected to partner with each other as a strike force. Will De Havilland will continue in defence due to his notable form in recent weeks.

Ashley Nathaniel-George will be charged with providing creativity for the away side on the flank, while Irishman Kane Ferdinand is likely to appear in midfield.

Altrincham possible starting lineup:
Byrne; Jones, Mullarkey, Jones, Baines; Conn-Clarke, Osborne, Marriott, Newby; Colclough, Dinanga

Maidenhead United possible starting lineup:
Gyollai; Asare, Kpekawa, Massey, Barratt; Clerima, Ferdinand, Clifton, Barratt; Acquah, McCoulsky

We say: Altrincham 2-0 Maidenhead United

In a match with significant permutations in the National League, we expect an affair that will produce plenty of chances for both teams to seize the initiative.

Altrincham will take home the three points, adding scope to the idea of a potential playoff push.
