Sports Mole previews Tuesday's National League clash between Barnet and Dagenham & Redbridge, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Barnet play host to Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday evening looking for the win that will strengthen their hold of third place in the National League standings.

Meanwhile, the visitors make the short trip to the Hive Stadium looking to move clear of the relegation zone, with the current gap to the bottom four just three points.

Match preview

While Barnet can claim to have enjoyed a productive campaign thus far, they will have mixed feelings with regards to currently sitting in third.

Five of their last nine matches have ended in defeat, with only a three-game winning run between December 23 and December 30 keeping them in contention at the top.

Two of those victories were over Southend United, a team that would have been in close proximity of Barnet had the results gone the other way, but Dean Brennan's side could not repeat the trick at the weekend.

Barnet found themselves three goals down at Altrincham in just 50 minutes, it taking two strikes in the final 16 minutes to put some respectability on the scoreline.

Although Barnet have now lost five of their 14 away games this campaign, they have suffered just two defeats at home, a period that they will look to extend on Tuesday.

As far as Dagenham & Redbridge are concerned, no consistency has been found since the summer with no more than two wins being posted in succession.

On a positive note, though, the Daggers have put together a three-match unbeaten run over the Christmas and New Year period, accumulating five points.

The one win came at home to Eastleigh by a 4-1 scoreline, with draws being earn at Fylde and Eastleigh respectively to move three points clear of the bottom four.

Ben Strevens's side had been 2-0 up against Eastleigh, yet having fallen 3-2 down by the 49th minute and 4-3 adrift later in the match, a share of the spoils was gratefully accepted.

Team News

Brennan must decide whether to tinker with his Barnet XI given the manner of their defeat at Altrincham.

Jordan Cropper may be considered for a start on the right flank, while Jordan Maguire-Drew could feature in the final third.

Midfielder Dale Gorman missed the last game through injury and will be assessed ahead of this contest.

Ryan Hill only lasted 27 minutes against Eastleigh and appears likely to miss this contest, with Freddie Sears and Sydney Ibie pushing for an opportunity on the left flank.

Conor Lawless is another option to act as a direct replacement, or in central midfield.

Barnet possible starting lineup:
Walker; Potter, Oluwo, Okimo; Cropper, Gorman, Hartigan, Coker; Brunt, Kabamba, Pritchard

Dagenham & Redbridge possible starting lineup:
Justham; Ling, Phipps, Eastman, Vincent; Hessenthaler, Appiah-Forson, Rees; Remy, Effiong, Lawless

We say: Barnet 2-1 Dagenham & Redbridge

With Barnet having lost their most recent fixture, Dagenham & Redbridge will fancy their chances of causing the upset at the Hive Stadium. However, we cannot ignore Barnet's form preceding that defeat and they should still have enough in the tank to come through with a victory.
