Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Bristol City Women and Tottenham Hotspur Ladies, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Bristol City Women will attempt to end their 11-game winless league run when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur Ladies to Ashton Gate on Sunday.

The Robins are propping up the Women's Super League table, while Tottenham are currently sitting in sixth position.

Match preview

Bristol City are at risk of being relegated straight back to the Championship after mustering six points from their 16 league matches this term.

Having won just one league game all season, the Robins are six points adrift from safety with six matches left to play.

In last Sunday's clash with Manchester United, Lisa Naalsund scored a brace to condemn Lauren Smith's side to a 2-0 defeat at Leigh Sports Village.

After experiencing disappointment on the road, Bristol City will now return to Ashton Gate, where they have lost seven consecutive home league matches.

Having conceded 22 goals across those seven home matches, the Robins will need to improve defensively if they are to trouble Tottenham on Sunday.

In contrast to their hosts, Tottenham will head into the weekend in a positive mood after experiencing success in their last two matches.

Spurs booked their place in the FA Cup semi-finals with a penalty-shootout victory over Manchester City, before they claimed a narrow win in last Sunday's league clash with Leicester City.

Matilda Vinberg's second-minute strike proved enough to clinch maximum points and end Tottenham's four-game winless league run.

Having picked up 22 points from 16 league games, Spurs are currently sitting in sixth position and are well set to better last season's ninth-placed finish.

They will now turn their attention to Sunday's trip to Bristol, where they will attempt to beat the Robins for the third time this season after claiming 3-1 and 3-0 victories in the WSL and League Cup respectively.

Team News

Bristol City are unable to call upon the services of Carrie Jones, who is set to miss a second straight game with an ankle injury.

Satara Murray and Chloe Mustaki are unlikely to be available, while Jamie-Lee Napier will serve a one-match suspension after being sent off in the closing stages of the defeat to Man United.

Abi Harrison could be presented with a starting spot after she returned from a two-game injury absence to feature as a substitute last weekend.

As for the visitors, Martha Thomas is set to be out for the next couple of weeks after missing the win over Leicester with a hamstring injury.

Goalkeeper Barbora Votikova suffered a concussion in training and will now follow the appropriate protocols before she can return to action.

Molly Bartrip has missed the last two matches through illness, but the defender is in contention to feature in Sunday's trip to Ashton Gate.

Bristol City Women possible starting lineup:
Yanez; Morgan, Aspin, Connolly, Struck, Powell; Harrison, Rodgers, Syme, Hayles; Thestrup

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies possible starting lineup:
Spencer; Neville, Turner, Buhler, Nilden; Graham, Summanen, Clinton; Vinberg, Bizet, England

We say: Bristol City Women 1-3 Tottenham Hotspur Ladies

Bristol City will be low on confidence following a number of disappointing results, and having already lost to Spurs on two occasions this season, we think that they will fall to another defeat in Sunday's contest.
