Sports Mole previews Saturday's National League clash between Bromley and Wealdstone, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Off the back of contrasting results in their most recent outings, Bromley and Wealdstone face off at Hayes Lane on Saturday in round 23 of the 2022-23 National League season.

The home side head into this one having picked up a first victory in nine games last time out, while their visitors suffered a first defeat since October.

Match preview

Bromley just about saw off the threat of Dorking in a thrilling 3-2 encounter when the sides went toe to toe at Meadowbank Park on November 19.

Goals from Michael Cheek and Omar Sowunmi saw Andy Woodman's men head into the break with a 2-1 lead after which Harry Forster put the game to bed 10 minutes into the second period, rendering Ryan Seager's late strike inconsequential.

Consequently, the Ravens have moved up to 11th place in the National League table and are now just four points adrift of the last playoff place with a game in hand.

Awaiting them next is the challenge of an opposing outfit who have emerged victorious in just one of the previous nine meetings between the teams.

However, that solitary victory did come in the most recent clash back in August, when Saturday's hosts fell to a 3-2 defeat on the opening weekend of the current campaign.

Wealdstone were denied a third consecutive victory following a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Barnet FC in Saturday's contest at the Hive Stadium.

Stuart Maynard's men went behind to Harry Pritchard's 11th-minute opener before Nicke Kabamba sealed the deal eight minutes after the restart.

As a result, the Royals sit level on points and two places behind their next opponents ahead of this weekend's match, which promises to be an absorbing affair.

Having failed to register a goal away from home for the first time since August in their last outing on the road, Saturday's visitors will be looking to get themselves back on the scoresheet en route to a positive result in this one.

Team News

Billy Bingham was hauled off in the first half of Bromley's victory over Dorking, and the Englishman is unavailable for Saturday's contest.

Corey Whitely received his marching orders in the aforementioned game, making the forward ineligible to play any part for the home side here.

Wealdstone's Jack Cook grabbed the winning goal in the last edition of this weekend's fixture, and he will be looking to deliver the goods once again.

Nineteen-year-old Deji Elerewe remains out of contention for the away side, having missed each of the last four outings with a muscle injury.

Bromley possible starting lineup:
Smith; Hannam, Webster, Sowunmi, Reynolds; Forster, Vennings, Marriott, Coleman; Cheek, Clayden

Wealdstone possible starting lineup:
Howes; Obiero, Charles, Barker, Cook; Freckleton, Kinsella, Ferguson, Kretzschmar; Olomola, Allarakhia

We say: Bromley 2-1 Wealdstone

There is little to separate the sides ahead of this one, but Bromley's record against Wealdstone just about gives them the edge. We are backing the home side to carry the day here, albeit by only a narrow margin.
