Sports Mole previews Friday's Swedish Allsvenskan clash between Brommapojkarna and Hammarby, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Hammarby will be bidding to make it three straight victories in the Swedish Allsvenskan when they travel to an out-of-form Brommapojkarna side on Friday night.

The visitors are currently eighth in the table, boasting 22 points from their opening 16 matches, while Brommapojkarna are 10th, three points behind their opponents in this contest.

Match preview

Brommapojkarna will enter this match off the back of a hugely disappointing run of form, having lost each of their last four league fixtures, including a 4-2 defeat at Hacken last time out.

BP have now lost eight of their 15 league matches this season, with a total of 19 points leaving them in 10th position in the table, three points behind their opponents in this match.

Olof Mellberg's side have only picked up seven points from their seven home league games this term, scoring just seven times in the process, with the strugglers actually performing better on their travels, collecting 12 points away from their own stadium.

Brommapojkarna secured a return to the Allsvenskan by winning the second tier last year, picking up 62 points from their 30 matches, and they will now be aiming to consolidate at the top level once again.

Hammarby, meanwhile, will enter this match in strong form, winning three of their last four league games, including victories in their last two against Sirius and Kalmar.

A total of 22 points from 16 matches has left Marti Cifuentes's side in eighth position in the table, just two points behind fifth-placed Halmstad.

Hammarby won the Swedish championship in 2001, while they have been runners-up on two other occasions, claiming second in 1982 and 2003.

Bajen were third in the Allsvenskan last season, eight points behind the champions Hacken, but they have found it difficult to show consistency during the 2023 campaign.

Hammarby's away form this season has also been disappointing, only picking up six points from their nine matches, boasting a record of one win, three draws and five defeats.

Team News

Brommapojkarna have not reported any injury concerns for Friday's contest, so head coach Mellberg could have a full squad to choose from.

There were positives to take from the loss at Hacken last time out, so it would not be too surprising to see the same XI take to the field for this match.

Oscar Pettersson has been in impressive form for Brommapojkarna this season, finding the back of the net on seven occasions, and he will again feature in the final third of the field.

Hammarby, meanwhile, have five players currently on the sidelines, with Anton Kralj, August Mikkelsen, Abdelrahman Boudah, Bubacarr Trawally and Jon Gudni Fjoluson out of action through injury.

Head coach Cifuentes is unlikely to find a reason to change the side that started the win over Kalmar, with Jusef Erabi set to lead the line once again.

Erabi has scored seven times in 20 appearances this season, while there will be another start for Nahir Besara, who has also found the back of the net on seven occasions during the current campaign.

Brommapojkarna possible starting lineup:
Sidklev; Calisir, Sogaard, Heggem; Jensen, Fritzson, Holm, Ackermann; Pettersson, Odefalk, Jordan

Hammarby possible starting lineup:
Dovin; Karlsson, Kurtulus, Pinas, Strand; Demirol, Hammar; Nilsson, Besara, Dukanovic; Erabi

We say: Brommapojkarna 0-2 Hammarby

It is difficult to ignore the form of the two sides when choosing a result in this contest. Hammarby's recent results have been strong, but the same cannot be said for Brommapojkarna, and we are backing the visitors to emerge victorious relatively comfortably on Friday night.
