New Cardiff City signing Liam Lawrence has said that midfielder Peter Whittingham has what it takes to play in the Premier League.
Lawrence, on loan from Portsmouth, watched Whittingham as he scored from a half volley on the edge of the box in Cardiff's 2-2 draw with Brighton on Wednesday.
"It was a great effort, off the outside of his boot and the ball flew into the top corner. But Peter has got that ability. He does it in training and he does it in games too, it was a brilliant goal," Lawrence said.
"He's a good player, intelligent and he uses the ball well and sometimes he scores goals like that, just fantastic.
"I think Peter's good enough for the Premier League and hopefully that will be with Cardiff City, so fingers crossed."
Cardiff are currently eighth in the Championship, one point off a play-off spot.
