Arsenal Women will look to record a fifth consecutive victory in all competitions when they make the trip to Merseyside to face Liverpool Women on Sunday.

While the visitors are currently sat in second place, the Reds head into the weekend in ninth place with three points to their name.

Match preview

After winning promotion from the Championship last season, Liverpool could not have wished for a better start to their campaign as they came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 in their WSL opener.

However, Liverpool have been unable to build upon their victory over the WSL champions, with their last two league games both ending in defeat.

The Reds were thrashed 3-0 by Everton in the Merseyside derby, and although they beat Sunderland 1-0 in the League Cup, they were edged out by Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

A Niamh Fahey own goal was enough for Spurs to claim all three points, as Liverpool failed to score for the second straight league game.

With both of their goals against Chelsea coming from the penalty spot, the Reds are still searching for their first league goal from open play in the league, and they will face a challenging task to find the net against an Arsenal side who are yet to concede in the WSL his season.

Arsenal will head into Saturday's contest in a confident mood are recording a statement win against the European champions Lyon in midweek.

Caitlin Foord and Beth Mead both scored two goals apiece, while Frida Maanum also got on the scoresheet to guide Arsenal to a commanding 5-1 victory in the Champions League.

As well as performing on the European stage, Arsenal have won all three of their WSL games this season, and as a result, they are one of two teams who are yet to drop points this season.

Including last season, the Gunners have won their last 11 league games, while they have kept nine consecutive clean sheets.

Arsenal have also been in impressive form in the final third, scoring at least two goals in 10 of their previous 11 WSL matches.

Team News

Leanne Kiernan is sidelined for the hosts, while Shanice van de Sanden is still at least two weeks away from returning to being available.

Matt Beard has indicated that Ceri Holland will return to the starting lineup after beginning the defeat to Tottenham on the bench.

Katie Stengel has scored both of Liverpool's league goals this season, and she will look to add to her tally when she leads the line on Sunday.

As for the visitors they are still without the services of Leah Williamson and Rafaelle, who are both sidelined due to injury issues.

Vivianne Miedema dropped to the bench for the midweek meeting with Lyon, but she could return to the starting lineup for Saturday's contest.

Mead has scored five goals in all competitions this season, and the England international is expected to be joined in the frontline by Foord and Stina Blackstenius.

Liverpool Women possible starting lineup:
Laws; Flaherty, Fahey, Matthews; Koivisto, Kearns, Holland, Hinds; Daniels, Lawley, Stengel

Arsenal Women possible starting lineup:
Zinsberger; Wienroither, Wubben-Moy, Catley, McCabe; Little, Maanum, Miedema; Mead, Foord, Blackstenius

We say: Liverpool Women 0-3 Arsenal Women

Arsenal are currently in fine form, and we think that they will ease to a comfortable victory over a Liverpool side who have lost their last two league matches.
