Sports Mole

Seeking to pick up a 10th consecutive win and extend their lead at the top of the Norwegian Eliteserien table, Bodo/Glimt take on Stromsgodset on Sunday.

Kjetil Knudsen's men take a trip to the Marienlyst Stadion unbeaten in each of their last 10 games against the home side and will be looking to extend this dominant run.

Match preview

Stromsgodset picked up a third consecutive away win a fortnight ago as they edged out Valerenga 1-0 when the sides squared off at the Intility Arena.

Norwegian midfielder Herman Stengel came up clutch for the visitors as he converted his 68th-minute penalty to hand Dag-Eilev Fagermo's men their sixth defeat of the season.

Prior to that, Jorgen Isnes's men saw their four-match unbeaten run come to an end on June 4 courtesy of a 2-1 loss against Haugesund, three days before thrashing Vard Haugesund 4-1 in the third round of the NM Cup.

With 11 points from 10 matches, Stromgodset are currently 12th in the Eliteserien standings, but could move into ninth place with all three points this weekend.

However, standing in their way is an opposing side who are unbeaten in their last 10 encounters, claiming eight wins and two draws since a 4-0 loss in August 2018.

Bodo/Glimt, on the other hand, continue to blitz their way through the new Eliteserien campaign as they picked up a comfortable 3-0 victory over HamKam 3-0 last time out.

It was a tale of two halves at the Aspmyra Stadion as Amahl Pellegrino grabbed a second-half brace to put the hosts two goals up before Hugo Vetlesen put the icing on the cake with a 79th-minute strike.

Knudsen's men have now won each of their 10 games since a 2-2 draw with Brann on April 29, a run which has seen them reach the fourth round of the NM Cup following wins over Mosjoen, Junkeren and Ranheim in the opening three rounds.

The Glimt's last defeat came in the 2022 NM Cup on April 26, when they were beaten 1-0 by Lillestrom at the Arasen Stadion courtesy of a first-half strike from 31-year-old Thomas Lehne Olsen.

Bodo/Glimt's superb start to the season has been owing to their lethal display at the attacking end of the pitch where they have scored the most goals in the league this season (32), while conceding just nine goals so far.

Team News

Following a solid defensive display against Valerenga, we expect to see an unchanged back three of Fredrik Kristensen Dahl, Gustav Valsvik and Ari Leifsson shielding Viljar Myhra in goal.

Up top, Brunes, who has eight goals and assists in his last nine matches, should spearhead the Stromgodset attack, alongside Marcus Mehnert and 19-year-old Tobias Fjeld Gulliksen.

Meanwhile, Bodo Glimt will take to the pitch without the services of Runar Espejord, who has missed each of the last four matches through a groin injury.

He is joined on the visitors' injury table by experienced midfielder Ulrik Saltnes, who is yet to feature this year after coming off injured in last November's 4-2 victory over Stromgodset.

No player has more goal involvements than Pellegrino (17) this season and the 33-year-old should lead the Glimt's attack once again, alongside Cameroonian forward Faris Pemi Moumbagna, who has eight goals to his name.

Stromsgodset possible starting lineup:
Myhra; Leifsson, Valsvik, Dahl; Vilsvik, Stengel, Therkelsen, Grogaard; Mehnert, Gulliksen, Brunes

Bodo/Glimt possible starting lineup:
Khaikin; Wembangomo, Bjortuft, Lode, Bjørkan; Vetlesen, Berg, Gronbaek; Mvuka, Moumbagna, Pellegrino

We say: Stromsgodset 1-3 Bodo/Glimt

While Stromsgodset will look to build on their win over Valerenga, Sunday's game pits them against a Bodo/Glimt side who are unbeaten in each of their last 10 encounters. The Glimt boast the firepower needed to get the job done and we predict that they will extend their dominance over Isnes's men.
