Sport Mole previews Sunday's Serie A clash between Torino and Lazio, including pedictions, team news and possible starting lineups.

Torino are set to welcome Lazio on Sunday as they continue to search for their first league win of the season, having picked up a 3-3 draw against free-scoring Sassuolo last Friday.

Meanwhile, Lazio will be hoping to get their season back on track following a miserable start to the 2020-21 campaign, despite a recent 2-1 win against Bologna.

Match preview

Marco Giampaolo's men were unlucky not to secure the win last week, with Sassuolo netting twice in the last ten minutes of the game.

After going ahead on two separate occasions - with goals in the contest coming from Karol Linetty, Andrea Belotti and Sasa Lukic - the visitors were unable to seal that all-important victory as Roberto De Zerbi's men produced a dramatic comeback late in the game.

A long-distance strike by Vlad Chiriches, followed by a header from Francesco Caputo in the 85th minute resulted in a rather disappointing end to the match for the Granata.

However, they will be happy to finally gain their first point of the season, having picked up three losses this campaign - climbing one place above the bottom.

On Wednesday, Torino also picked up a 3-1 win against relegated Lecce in the third round of the Coppa Italia, putting them in high spirits as they head into Sunday's fixture.

Lazio, on the other hand, have been busy in the Champions League, with the Italian outfit registering a 1-1 draw against Club Brugge in their most recent European clash.

The Biancocelesti also managed an impressive 3-1 win against Dortmund last Tuesday, leaving Simone Inzaghi's men currently top of Group F.

In the league, their latest home victory against Bologna last Saturday means that they currently sit 12th in Serie A, gaining just their second win this season.

Despite a set of fine chances by Bologna within the 90 minutes, Luis Alberto was the first player to officially get on the scoresheet, putting Lazio 1-0 up in the early moments of the second half.

Ciro Immobile then got the second - becoming the club's second highest goalscorer in their history - before Lorenzo De Silvestri grabbed a consolation goal in extra time.

Lazio last met Torino in June earlier this year, when Inzaghi's team won 2-1, with Immobile once again netting for his side.

Team News

Giampaolo should opt for a similar lineup that faced Sassuolo last week, with the team managing an impressive 3-3 draw against their high-flying opponents.

Belotti, who has sparked interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur in recent times, managed to get on the scoresheet in that high-scoring match - and is likely to start alongside Simone Verdi, with the forward scoring a brace in the latest cup tie.

As for injuries, the Granata are still without Daniele Baselli, who is expected to return next month, while Armando Izzo remains doubtful.

For Lazio, COVID-19 complications means they could be missing several players for this one.

Thomas Strakosha, Lucas Leiva and Luiz Felipe are amongst those that could miss the match, following a supposed outbreak of the virus at the club.

Immobile and Alberto may also miss the game, having not made the starting XI for the Champions League clash against Club Brugge, with Inzaghi likely to field the same team that drew against the Belgian outfit.

Torino possible starting lineup:
Sirigu; Vojvoda, Nkoulou, Lyanco, Rodriguez; Meite, Rincon, Linetty; Lukic; Belotti, Verdi

Lazio possible starting lineup:
Reina; Patric, Hoedt, Acerbi; Marusic, Milinkovic-Savic, Parolo, Akpa-Akpro, Fares; Correa, Caicedo

We say: Torino 1-2 Lazio

Usually, Lazio would be able to conjure up a convincing win against Torino, especially as Giampaolo's men currently find themselves in the relegation zone. However, with a set of key players likely to miss the game and the Biancocelesti struggling this season, this may be a close encounter between the two teams.
