Sports Mole previews Saturday's Women's Super League clash between Tottenham Hotspur Ladies and Manchester City Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies will attempt to claim a third consecutive victory in all competitions when they play host to Manchester City Women on Saturday.

The visitors, meanwhile, have the chance to record back-to-back wins after they picked up their first points of the Women's Super League season with a 4-0 victory over Leicester City.

Match preview

Tottenham began the season with a narrow 2-1 victory against Leicester, but their opening-day win was quickly forgotten when they were thrashed 4-0 by North London rivals Arsenal.

Although she would have been disappointed by the heavy defeat, Spurs boss Rehanne Skinner would have been pleased with the reaction from her side, who bounced back with an away win over Reading in the League Cup.

Another victory followed last weekend when a Niamh Fahey own goal helped Tottenham secure a narrow 1-0 victory over Liverpool in their first home game of the season.

Having collected six points from their opening league three games, Spurs head into the weekend in seventh place, but they have a game in hand over three sides that are above them in the WSL table.

As they attempt to move up the standings, Saturday's hosts will be looking for another resolute defensive performance after keeping their first clean sheet of the season last weekend.

Man City began the WSL season in poor form, after a 4-3 defeat away to Aston Villa was followed by another poor result against defending champions Chelsea.

After losing 2-0 to the Blues, Gareth Taylor's side clinched their first league win of the season when they played host to Leicester City last weekend.

A Khadija Shaw brace as well as goals from Lauren Hemp and Yui Hasegawa secured the Citizens a comfortable 3-0 victory, but they will need a positive run of results if they are to close the gap to the top of the table.

With three points to their name after as many games, Man City are sat in eighth place, and they are already six points adrift of the Champions League places.

Having lost both of their opening two away matches in the WSL, the visitors know that they need to improve on their travels if they are to begin moving up the league table.

Team News

After keeping a clean sheet last weekend, Tottenham will remain unchanged in defence, with Amy Turner and Shelina Zadorsky set to feature either side of Molly Bartrip in a back three.

Cho So-hyun is expected to come into the side after appearing for 30 minutes against Liverpool, which could result in Angharad James dropping down to the bench.

Skinner could also introduce Jessica Naz to the starting lineup, with the 22-year-old set to join Drew Spence and Nikola Karczewska in the forward line.

As for the visitors, they are still expected to be without the services of Ruby Mace and Alanna Kennedy due to injury issues.

Hasegawa scored on her Man City debut last weekend, and the midfielder is expected to retain her place in the side, with Taylor likely to name an unchanged lineup.

Shaw will continue to lead the line for the visitors, and she will be aiming to add to the three league goals that she has scored this season.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies possible starting lineup:
Korpela; Turner, Bartrip, Zadorsky; Ale, Cho, Summanen, Neville; Naz, Spence, Karczewska

Manchester City Women possible starting lineup:
Roebuck; Casparij, Aleixandri, Greenwood, Morgan; Coombs, Hasegawa, Castellanos; Hemp, Kelly, Shaw

We say: Tottenham Hotspur Ladies 1-3 Manchester City Women

Although Tottenham have recorded consecutive victories, we think that they will be beaten by a Man City side, whose confidence would have been restored by their win over Leicester.
