Sports Mole previews Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash between Aberdeen and Dundee, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Aberdeen will be aiming to keep up the impressive form they showed before the international break when club football returns on Saturday when they host Dundee.

Both teams are sitting just above the Scottish Premiership relegation zone, adding plenty of pressure onto this particular fixture.

Match preview

Aberdeen had an impressive run of performances prior to the recent international break, putting together a run of five games in all competitions without a defeat.

While their most recent Scottish Premiership match was a goalless draw against St Johnstone, prior to that they picked up a 4-0 win against Ross County and a 3-1 victory over Rangers, showcasing their attacking qualities.

The Dons have scored 10 times in the league this season, but have conceded just as many, with that balance being something that the team would like to change.

Despite the impressive run that Barry Robson's team have put together the club is currently sat just above the relegation zone with only goal difference keeping them in that spot.

It places some real pressure on Aberdeen for this fixture as one slip-up could see them dropping into the bottom two, and after only one victory at home in the league there is plenty to work on.

The visitors are level on points with the Dons in the table, and are therefore in a similar scenario with the fact that a defeat could see them sink into the relegation zone.

However, the Dark Blues head into this match on the back of consecutive draws before the international break, putting together a stronger run.

Dundee have failed to capture three points on the road, though, which is something that they will need to change if they want to progress further up the division.

Tony Docherty's men did showcase defensive resilience in their last outing which led to a goalless draw against Hibernian, and kicking on from that could lead to them progressing up the table.

Three points might see Dundee climb as high as fifth in the league, but the Dark Blues have only managed to score three goals away from home, a situation they will need to improve upon.

Team News

Connor Barron and Jonny Hayes were both brought into the Aberdeen starting lineup during their last outing, but Leighton Clarkson and Jack MacKenzie could end up retaining their place.

Vicente Besuijen returned to the matchday squad in that match as well, and that is something that is expected to continue moving forward now.

Josh Mulligan could make a return to the starting lineup for the visitors after serving his suspension, and he is expected to be named in the matchday squad at least.

Meanwhile, there are question marks over Scott Tiffoney and Jordan McGhee, who have both been dealing with injury problems as of late.

Aberdeen possible starting lineup:
Roos; Devlin, Gartenmann, Rubezic, Jensen, MacKenzie; Shinnie, Clarkson, McGrath; Miovski, Duk

Dundee possible starting lineup:
Carson; McGhee, Shaughnessy, Lamie, Beck; Boateng; Robinson, Robertson, McCowan, Tiffoney; Bakayoko

We say: Aberdeen 2-1 Dundee

There is little to separate these two teams in the league table right now, and that is something that will likely be reflected on the pitch as well.

However, the strong run of form that Aberdeen had before the international break they could just edge this match.
