Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Napoli

Sports Mole rounds up all of Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Europa League fixture against Napoli.
Sports Mole

Barcelona play the first Europa League fixture in their history when they meet Napoli in the first leg of their last-32 tie on Thursday evening.

The Catalan giants have not featured in the secondary European competition since competing in the UEFA Cup during 2003-04.

While Barcelona are seemingly on an upward trajectory under Xavi, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Espanyol in their derby showdown on Sunday.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of the team's latest injury and suspension news ahead of welcoming the Serie A title challengers to Camp Nou.

Ansu Fati

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Having suffered a hamstring injury against Athletic Bilbao last month, Fati is spending another period on the sidelines. As it stands, the youngster is likely to be sidelined for at least another month.

Sergi Roberto

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Sergi Roberto underwent surgery on a thigh problem towards the end of last year, meaning that he will not be available for selection until at least March.

Samuel Umtiti

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: Unknown

Umtiti is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, having been forced to undergo an operation on the foot injury that he picked up during a training session.

Memphis Depay

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: February 17 (vs. Napoli)

Memphis has not represented Barcelona for more than a month, the reason initially being due to muscle fatigue. Although the Netherlands international is supposedly closing in on a return, it remains to be seen whether Xavi will find a place for him on the substitutes' bench.

Ronald Araujo

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: February 17 (vs. Napoli)

Araujo needed to be withdrawn at half time on Sunday after picking up a knock. With the centre-back seen with an ice pack on his calf after the break, his availability for this contest is very much in doubt.

Alejandro Balde

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Left-back Balde, who was linked with a January move away from Camp Nou, is expected to be unavailable for the next five weeks or so due to an ankle problem

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barcelona have no players who are suspended for this contest. However, Dani Alves is ineligible after not being selected in the squad for Europa League fixtures.
