Sports Mole previews Saturday's La Liga clash between Granada and Getafe, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Granada's search for just their second La Liga victory of the 2023-24 campaign will continue on Saturday evening, when they welcome an in-form Getafe to Nuevo Estadio de Los Carmenes.

The home side have only picked up six points from their opening 12 matches of the season, which has left them down in 19th position in the table, while Getafe sit 11th, collecting 15 points from their first 12 games.

Match preview

Granada boast a record of one win, three draws and eight defeats from their opening 12 matches of the new La Liga campaign, which has left them down in 19th position on six points, three points off 17th-placed Mallorca.

The Andalusian outfit have actually scored 17 times in the league this season, which is a high number considering their position in the table, but they have the second-worst defensive record behind basement side Almeria (32), conceding 29 times.

Granada recorded a 3-0 win over Arosa in the first round of the Copa del Rey at the start of the month, but they have lost their last three in the league against Osasuna, Villarreal and Valencia.

Paco Lopez's side have not been victorious in Spain's top flight since overcoming Mallorca at the end of August, losing six and drawing three of their seven matches since.

Granada are also winless in their last three league matches against Getafe and suffered a 4-2 defeat when the two teams last locked horns in Spain's top flight in January 2022.

Getafe, meanwhile, will enter this match off the back of a 1-0 win over Cadiz on Monday evening, with Borja Mayoral netting the only goal of the contest in the 76th minute.

Jose Bordalas's side also beat Tardienta 12-0 in the Copa del Rey earlier this month, so it has been a strong start to November, and the team will be eyeing a third straight success on Saturday.

Getafe are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, including their last six in the league, although five of those matches have ended in draws.

The Deep Blue Ones have only lost three of their 12 La Liga matches this term, but too many draws (six) have prevented them from pushing higher up the division, with a total of 15 points leaving them in 11th position.

Getafe have finished 15th in each of their last three league campaigns, but they were eighth, fifth and eighth between 2018 and 2020, so a top-half position is not beyond them this term.

Team News

Granada will again be without the services of three players for this match through injury, with Jesus Vallejo, Miguel Angel Rubio and Raul Fernandez unavailable for selection.

Head coach Lopez is expected to have the same squad available from the 1-0 defeat to Valencia last time out, and it is likely to be close to the same XI for this contest.

There could potentially be a change down the left, though, with Antonio Puertas pushing to replace Oscar Melendo, but Lucas Boye and Myrto Uzuni are again certain starters.

As for Getafe, Mauro Arambarri and Enes Unal remain long-term absentees for the capital outfit due to serious knee problems.

The visitors will also be missing Djene Dakonam due to the red card that he picked up in the 1-0 success over Cadiz last time out, which should mean that Luis Milla comes into the midfield.

Juanmi Latasa could also be introduced in the final third, potentially in place of Jaime Mata, with both Mayoral and Mason Greenwood set to retain their positions in the side.

Granada possible starting lineup:
Ferreira; Sanchez, Miquel, Torrente, Neva; Villar, Gumbau; Zaragoza, Uzuni, Puertas; Boye

Getafe possible starting lineup:
Soria; Suarez, Alvarez, Alderete, Rico; Carmona, Milla, Maksimovic, Greenwood; Mayoral, Latasa

We say: Granada 2-2 Getafe

This is a really tough game to call, and it would not be a shock to see a home or indeed an away win here. We fancy the draw, though, as two of the last three meetings between these two teams have finished level, while Getafe have been the draw specialists in Spain's top flight this season alongside Mallorca and Rayo Vallecano.
