Sports Mole previews Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash between Livingston and St Mirren, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

St Mirren will be hoping to continue their strong start to the new Scottish Premiership campaign when they travel to face Livingston on Saturday.

The visitors are currently level on points with Celtic at the top of the table, but the Lions head into the game on the back of consecutive wins.

Match preview

Livingston started the campaign with two games without a win or a goal, but since the heavy 4-0 loss at the hands of Rangers the Lions have turned things around.

The Scottish League Cup provided the perfect distraction that allowed the team to focus and get back to winning ways as they knocked Ayr out with a 2-0 win.

That was followed up last weekend by a 3-2 victory against Hibernian, picking up their first three points of the SPL campaign which helped to move the team into eighth place.

The Lions have proven they are more than capable of finding the back of the net despite the difficult start offensively, and David Martindale will want to see his men continue in that trajectory.

Livingston are yet to win a league game at home this season, though, and that is something that the team will need to focus on and change as soon as possible.

The Lions will face a tough test, though, as the visitors have kick-started the campaign in impressive fashion which has left them joint top of the table with Celtic.

The Buddies have put together a seven-match undefeated streak to kickstart the campaign in all competitions, proving the quality that they have within the group itself.

St Mirren have scored 17 goals across that period, showcasing the attacking qualities that they have which is something that should create an exciting fixture this weekend.

However, Steve Robinson was left frustrated on the touchline last weekend when he witnessed his team conceding in the 100th minute of the game against Aberdeen.

The late goal meant that St Mirren ended up drawing 2-2 against the Dons, despite goals from Greg Kiltie and Alex Greive putting them in the lead after originally falling behind.

The draw is something that St Mirren will now look to put behind them immediately, especially since three points this Saturday has the potential of seeing them finish the weekend top of the table.

Team News

Scott Pittman was brought back into the starting lineup for Livingston last weekend for the first time since his injury, and after a positive result, it is likely he will retain his spot.

Lions fans are still patiently waiting to see Bruce Anderson back in the team from the first whistle since his own injury problems, but he has been used as a substitute in the last two games.

St Mirren recently brought Thierry Small to the club on a season-long loan, and while he was an unused substitute last weekend, his youthful energy could be used this time around.

Kiltie will be the main attacking threat for the visitors though as he aims to continue his impressive personal start to the season.

Livingston possible starting lineup:
George; De Lucas, Obileye, Devlin; Brandon, Guthrie, Holt; Shinnie, Montano, Pittman; Nouble

St Mirren possible starting lineup:
Hemming; Fraser, Gogic, Taylor; Strain, Baccus, Boyd-Munce, Tanser; McMenamin, Kiltie; Mandron

We say: Livingston 1-3 St Mirren

Livingston might be heading into this game on the back of consecutive victories, but they will face a tough test this weekend against the Buddies.

St Mirren have started the new season impressively, and the attacking intent that they showcase will likely lead them to winning this one.
