Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Manchester United Women and Tottenham Hotspur Ladies, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

On Sunday, Manchester United Women will face Tottenham Hotspur Ladies in a dress rehearsal of next month's Women's FA Cup Final.

The hosts currently occupy fourth position in the Women's Super League table, while Spurs are six points adrift in sixth place.

Match preview

Man United will head into the weekend in a positive mood after they edged out Chelsea in last Sunday's FA Cup semi-final.

Lucia Garcia and Rachel Williams both found the net in the opening 25 minutes, before Lauren James halved the deficit in first-half stoppage time.

Despite being put under pressure in the second period, Man United held firm to claim their first-ever competitive victory over Chelsea and seal their place in a second straight FA Cup final.

The Red Devils will now turn their focus back to league action, where they have struggled for consistency, having won nine, drawn four and lost five of their 18 WSL matches.

As a result, Man United are sitting in fourth place and nine points adrift of the top three with four games left to play against Spurs, Leicester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Their current focus will be on continuing their fine run of home form, having won each of their last six competitive matches at Leigh Sports Village.

Tottenham will meet Man United in next month's FA Cup final at Wembley after they came from behind to beat Leicester City in their semi-final clash.

Leicester's Jutta Rantala opened the scoring in the first half, before Jess Naz netted an 83rd-minute equaliser to send the tie to extra time.

Just as the tie appeared to be heading towards penalties, Martha Thomas scored a 118th-minute winner to lead Spurs to their first FA Cup final appearance.

Like Man United, Spurs are dreaming of winning their first major trophy, but they must now turn their attention to their next three league games before they head to Wembley on May 12.

Having taken 25 points from 17 matches, Spurs have already surpassed last season's tally by seven points, highlighting the progress that they have made in Robert Vilahamn's first season in charge.

Tottenham will now be looking to claim a win that would move them to within three points of Man United, who have played one game more.

Team News

Man United boss Marc Skinner has confirmed that Jayde Riviere remains sidelined after missing the last two matches through injury.

Gabby George, Jess Simpson and Emma Watson are all continuing to work on their rehabilitation from anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

Skinner could make a couple of changes to his side, with Geyse and Nikita Parris both in contention to start against Tottenham.

The visitors have reported no fresh injury concerns, but Man United loanee Grace Clinton is ineligible to face her parent club.

With Clinton dropping out of the side, Kit Graham could feature in a midfield three alongside Eveliina Summanen and Drew Spence.

Thomas could be given the chance to start against her former club after coming off the bench to score the winner last weekend.

Manchester United Women possible starting lineup:
Earps; Mannion, Le Tissier, Turner, Blundell; Naalsund, Zelem; Geyse, Toone, Garcia; Parris

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies possible starting lineup:
Spencer; Neville, Turner, Buhler, Nilden; Summanen, Spence, Graham; Naz, Bizet, Thomas

We say: Manchester United Women 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur Ladies

Man United may have won each of their last six competitive home matches, but we think that they may have to settle for a draw against a Spurs side that has lost just one of their last four away league games.
