New England Revolution earned a point in their clash with top of the MLS Eastern Conference New York Red Bulls at the Gillette Stadium.
Former Everton midfielder Tim Cahill almost gave the visitors the lead in the 22nd minute when he arrived late at the back post but couldn't direct his header on target from six yards out.
New England should have been ahead when Chris Tierney put Dimitry Imbongo through on goal but the striker could only fire his effort straight at Luis Robles in the New York goal.
After the break the hosts did take the lead when Diego Fagundez converted Tierney's cross from close range after Kosuke Kimura had cleared his initial effort off the line.
However, the Red Bulls responded straight away as Lloyd Sam equalised with a neat finish into the bottom corner beating Bobby Shuttleworth after being played in by Andre Akpan.
The Revolution could have won the game late on as Tierney found Fagundez but his effort was well beaten away by Robles, which was enough to secure his side a point in their away clash.
