Round 20 of the 2024 Brasileiro season sees defending champions Palmeiras welcome Vitoria to Allianz Parque on Saturday evening.

Both teams suffered defeats in their respective last outings and now go in search of an immediate return to winning ways this weekend.

Match preview

Palmeiras fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Fluminense in Thursday's clash at the Maracana Stadium.

Abel Ferreira's men looked set to come away with a share of the spoils in a relatively uneventful affair before Jhon Arias struck an 87th-minute winner.

As a result, Alviverde have now dropped down to third place in the Brasileiro table, one point shy of Flamengo and a further three behind leaders Botafogo.

Lying in store next is the challenge of an opposing outfit who have been beaten in eight of the last nine editions of this fixture since 2014.

Having won each of their last seven home matches across all competitions, Saturday's hosts will back themselves to emerge victorious in front of their fans once again.

Vitoria came away empty-handed from the fourth straight game following a 2-1 defeat against Flamengo at the Barradao on Thursday.

After going behind to Giorgian de Arrascaeta's opener, Thiago Carpini's men levelled matters through Everaldo, after which Carlinhos decided the contest with a 91st-minute winner.

With 15 points picked up from 19 matches so far, Leao da Barra sit 17th in the standings, two points adrift of safety despite having played two games more.

Currently with the third-worst away defensive record in the division, Saturday's visitors will be wary of being on the receiving end of another thrashing on the road.

Team News

Bruno Rodrigues has featured just twice for Palmeiras since joining from Cruzeiro as he continues to nurse a long-term injury.

Estevao Willian has missed the hosts' last two matches through a minor problem but the Chelsea-bound winger could make his return to action here having returned to training.

Camutanga and Rodrigo Andrade are both guaranteed absentees for Vitoria, although the former is drawing increasingly closer to making a comeback.

Everaldo found the back of the net within seven minutes of coming on as a substitute last time out and could be rewarded with a starting berth here.

Palmeiras possible starting lineup:
Weverton; Venderlan, Reis, Gomez, Rocha; Veiga, Ze Rafael, Moreno; Dudu, Lopez, Anderson

Vitoria possible starting lineup:
Arcanjo; Lepo, Vinicius, Leonardo, Esteves; Naldi, Ricardo, Oliveira; Matheuzinho, Alerrandro, Osvaldo

We say: Palmeiras 3-1 Vitoria

Palmeiras have been in scintillating form on home turf and it is hard to bet against them getting the job done here. We are tipping the hosts to run out comfortable winners at the sound of the final whistle.
