Manchester City Women will attempt to claim a fifth consecutive victory in all competitions when they travel to Berkshire to face Reading Women in the Women's Super League on Sunday.

The Royals, meanwhile, have the chance to record a second straight win after beating Leicester City 2-1 last weekend.

Match preview

Reading began the season with four consecutive defeats in the WSL, ensuring that both the Royals and Leicester entered last Sunday's contest without a point between them.

The Foxes looked set to claim all three points after leading for the majority of the encounter thanks to Natasha Flint's opener.

However, Rachel Rowe turned the game on its head, becoming Reading's hero with goals in the 90th and 92nd minute to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory.

Although the Royals would have taken confidence from their first win of the season, they will be aware that they face a much tougher task this weekend.

The hosts are winless in their last seven meetings with Man City, and on Sunday, they will look to claim their first win over the Citizens since April 2018.

After losing their opening two league games of the season, Man City have experienced an upturn in fortunes, winning their last four matches in all competitions.

The Citizens claimed comfortable WSL victories over Leicester and Tottenham Hotspur before they swept aside Blackburn Rovers in the League Cup via a 6-0 scoreline.

They faced a much tougher test against Liverpool last weekend after Khadija Shaw's opener was cancelled out by Katie Stengel.

Although they had to work hard, Man City secured a 2-1 victory thanks to Hayley Raso's winning goal 15 minutes from time.

The result leaves Gareth Taylor's side in fourth place ahead of Sunday's contest, and after scoring 15 goals in their last four games, they will be confident that they have the quality to continue their winning run.

Team News

Reading are still without the services of Emma Harries and Brooke Hendrix, although the pair are close to returning from their injury layoffs.

Deanna Cooper dropped out of the side last weekend, but Kelly Chambers may decide to bring the defender back into the starting lineup.

Meanwhile, Amalie Eikeland will retain her place in the side, and she will be joined in the front three by Charlie Wellings and Natasha Dowie.

As for the visitors, they are unable to call upon Alanna Kennedy, Ruby Mace and Vicky Losada due to injury issues.

Despite coming off the bench to score the winner against Liverpool, Raso may have to settle for a place among the substitutes, with Taylor expected to name an unchanged lineup.

Shaw will continue to lead the line for Man City, and the current WSL top scorer will be looking to add to the six league goals that she has scored this season.

Reading Women possible starting lineup:
Burns; Cooper, Evans, Mitchell; Bryson, Rowe, Vanhaevermaet, Woodham; Wellings, Dowie, Eikeland

Manchester City Women possible starting lineup:
Roebuck; Casparij, Aleixandri, Greenwood, Morgan; Coombs, Hasegawa, Castellanos; Kelly, Hemp, Shaw

We say: Reading Women 0-3 Manchester City Women

Although Reading would have taken confidence from their first win of the season, we think that they will be brushed aside by a Man City team that have been in impressive form since losing their opening two league games.
