Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Women's Super League clash between Tottenham Hotspur Ladies and Everton Ladies, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies and Everton Ladies will both look to end a run of three consecutive defeats in the Women's Super League when they face off at Brisbane Road on Wednesday.

The two sides are level on nine points after eight WSL matches, and with their goal difference identical, Tottenham are one place above Everton on goals scored.

Match preview

Tottenham began the season with four wins from six games in all competitions, but they have only managed to win one of their last four matches, which was a commanding 5-1 victory over Championship side Coventry United in the League Cup.

In the WSL, Spurs have lost three consecutive games, including a 2-0 home defeat to London rivals West Ham United at the weekend.

After playing out a goalless first half, Dagny Brynjarsdottir opened the scoring, and any hopes of Tottenham claiming a point were ended when Hawa Cissoko doubled West Ham's advantage in the 83rd minute.

Not only have Tottenham lost their previous three league matches, they have also failed to find the net in that period.

Although Rehanne Skinner will be disappointed with her side's form in recent weeks, Spurs will finish the calendar year in the top half if they can claim all three points on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Everton missed out on the chance to end a run of three consecutive league defeats at the weekend after their meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion was postponed.

The Toffees have won only one of their previous five matches, which took place in the League Cup against second-tier Sheffield United.

Everton's most recent outing was also a League Cup fixture, but on that occasion, they were beaten 4-2 by Manchester United.

While the Toffees managed to score two goals in the defeat to United, like Wednesday's opponents, they have also struggled to find the net this season.

They are currently the second-lowest scorers in the WSL with seven goals in eight games, but they will be looking for an improvement in the final third on Wednesday, as they attempt to move into the top half of the league table.

Team News

The hosts are still without the services of Kit Graham and Ria Percival, while Ellie Brazil and Kyah Simon are long-term injury absentees.

With Skinner set to make changes to the side that lost against West Ham, Nikola Karczewska and Jessica Naz could be brought into the starting lineup.

Ash Neville is also expected to return to the side after dropping to the bench at the weekend, and she is expected to operate on the left flank.

As for the visitors, they are expected to be without the services of Elise Stenevik after the defender missed the League Cup defeat to Man United.

Sorensen has indicated that Clare Wheeler and Katrina Veje are set to return to the matchday squad following a spell on the sidelines, and the latter could be brought into the starting lineup.

Katja Snoeijs will attempt to score her first WSL goal when she features in a front three alongside Jess Park and Aggie Beever-Jones.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies possible starting lineup:
Spence; Turner, Zadorsky, Bartrip; Bizet, Cho, Summanen, Neville; Spence, Naz, Karczewska

Everton Ladies possible starting lineup:
Ramsey; Graham, Sevecke, Veje, George; Wheeler, Bennison, Bjorn; Park, Beever-Jones, Snoeijs

We say: Tottenham Hotspur Ladies 0-1 Everton Ladies

With both sides struggling in the final third, we expect Wednesday's game to be a cagey contest, but after winning two of their last three away league games, we think Everton will claim a narrow victory.
