Sports Mole previews Tuesday's friendly clash between Bolton Wanderers and Stoke City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Bolton Wanderers and Stoke City will do battle in a friendly encounter at the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The hosts played out a share of the spoils in their most recent involvement while the visitors were on the receiving end of a rare defeat.

Match preview

Bolton Wanderers held Serie A outfit Fiorentina to a 1-1 stalemate in Friday's warm-up clash between the sides.

Ian Evatt's men went into the break trailing to Josip Brekalo's opener before Victor Adeboyejo levelled matters just shy of the midway point in the second period.

Consequently, The Trotters are now unbeaten in three of their four friendlies so far with a 3-0 defeat to Middlesbrough being the only exception in that time.

Awaiting them next is the challenge of an opposing outfit who have lost just one of the last seven editions of this fixture dating back to 2011.

Looking to pick up what would be a first home victory since April, Tuesday's hosts will be keen to get back to winning ways in front of their fans with the new League One campaign barely a fortnight away.

Stoke City fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Stockport County at Edgeley Park on Saturday afternoon.

Kyle Wootton opened the scoring just past the half-hour mark to put Steven Schumacher's men to the sword in a cagey contest.

That ended The Potters' six-game winning streak which kicked off with a comprehensive 3-0 triumph against Plymouth Argyle.

Off the back of a first away defeat since April, Tuesday's visitors now set out to avoid consecutive losses on enemy turf for the first time in almost five months.

Team News

Bolton forward Victor Adeboyejo was on target for a second consecutive game last time out and is expected to lead the line in this one.

Chris Forino-Joseph still awaits his debut for the home side since joining from Wycombe Wanderers as a free agent.

Nineteen-year-old Wiktor Gromek could be handed his Stoke City debut here having recently joined from Leece Under-19s.

Ben Pearson and Ryan Mmaee are ruled out for the away side as they continue to nurse respective muscle injuries.

Bolton Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Baxter; Forrester, Santos, Toal; Dacres-Cogley, Sheehan, Thomason, Conway; Lolos, Collins, Adeboyejo

Stoke City possible starting lineup:
Bonham; Stevens, Gibson, Wilmot, Gooch; Laurent, Sidibe; Vidigal, Johnson, Leris; Ennis

We say: Bolton Wanderers 1-2 Stoke City

With little at stake for both teams, we are anticipating an open and end-to-end clash in this one. We can also see Stoke City just about doing enough to come out on top at the end of the 90 minutes.
