Sports Mole

Brighton & Hove Albion Women will welcome Everton Ladies to the Amex Stadium for Friday's Women's Super League contest.

The Seagulls are hoping to make it three matches without defeat, while the visitors are looking to end a four-game winless run in the WSL.

Match preview

Brighton bounced back from a 4-1 defeat against Manchester City to take four points from their final two matches before the international break.

The Seagulls recorded a dramatic 3-2 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, before they played out a goalless draw with West Ham United to claim just their second clean sheet of the WSL season.

Having picked up 18 points from as many matches, the eighth-placed side have already surpassed last season's total by two points.

Although they may have little to play for, the South-coast side will still be determined to embark on a positive run of results in their final four matches against Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Arsenal.

The Seagulls will also be keen to produce a much-needed strong performance in front of their own supporters, having lost each of their last three home league games since beating Bristol City in January.

Everton, meanwhile, are sitting in 10th place and three points adrift of Brighton after taking just one point from their previous four league matches.

The Toffees suffered consecutive league defeats to Manchester City and Aston Villa, before they were involved in a goalless draw in last month's Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

Brian Sorensen's side were unable to take anything from their most recent outing, falling to a heavy 4-1 defeat against Man United despite taking the lead through Katja Snoeijs.

Despite experiencing a poor run of form, Everton are still on course to extend their seven-year stint in the top flight with 10 points separating them from basement side Bristol City.

Having lost their last four WSL road trips, the Toffees head into Friday's fixture with hopes of claiming their first away league win since beating West Ham United 1-0 in December.

Team News

Brighton defender Dejana Stefanovic is closing in on a return to fitness following a long-term back injury, but it remains to be seen whether she will be available for Friday's contest.

Norway international Maria Thorisdottir could return to the fold after missing Brighton's last two matches due to a foot problem.

However, Mikey Harris will be unable to call upon Vicky Losada, with the midfielder set to serve a one-match suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards.

Everton may be unable to call upon the services of Karoline Olesen, who has missed the last five matches through injury.

Martina Piemonte has dropped down out of the side for the last two matches, but she may be considered for a starting place for Friday's away trip.

Sara Holmgaard will be hoping to get more minutes off the bench after she returned from injury to make a late substitute appearance in the defeat to Man United.

Brighton & Hove Albion Women possible starting lineup:
Baggaley; Li, Bergsvand, Thorisdottir, Pattinson; Haley, Symonds, Zigiotti Olme; Robinson, Sarri, Terland

Everton Ladies possible starting lineup:
Brosnan; Vanhaevermaet, Finnigan, Stenevik; Hope, Wheeler, Kuhl, Galli; Payne, Piemonte, Snoeijs

We say: Brighton & Hove Albion Women 2-1 Everton Ladies

Brighton claimed a narrow victory when the two sides last met in October, and we think that they could produce a similar result in Friday's contest, especially as Everton have lost three of their last four league matches.
