Wrexham will look to claim a fourth consecutive victory when they travel to the Pirelli Stadium for Saturday's League One clash with Burton Albion.
Meanwhile, the relegation-threatened hosts will attempt to record a second straight victory after getting the better of Peterborough United in their most recent outing.
Match preview
Tom Hounsell has overseen nine matches in his tenure as Burton caretaker manager after taking over the reins following Mark Robinson's dismissal in October.
Hounsell began his spell in the dugout with a defeat to Cambridge United, before he saw his team put together an encouraging four-game unbeaten run in all competitions.
The 29-year-old then oversaw a difficult period of results, as Burton fell to consecutive league defeats before they lost on penalties in last Sunday's FA Cup second-round tie against non-league Tamworth.
The interim boss would have been disappointed with that result, but he would have certainly been pleased to see his side bounce back with a 1-0 victory in Tuesday's league clash against Peterborough thanks to a Mason Bennett effort.
After claiming their second league win of the season, Burton will now be aiming to record back-to-back victories for the first time since February 2024 as they look to close the seven-point gap to safety.
At the opposite end of the table, Wrexham are sitting in second position after winning 11, drawing four and losing three of their 18 league matches.
The promotion hopefuls have enjoyed a positive run of results since they lost 1-0 to Stockport County in their most recent away game on November 16, having recorded three consecutive home wins without conceding.
After dispatching Exeter City and Lincoln City, the Red Dragons went on to record a narrow 1-0 victory in Tuesday's clash with Barnsley, courtesy of Ollie Rathbone's 92nd-minute winner.
As a result of that win, Wrexham have now won nine and drawn one of their 10 home league games, making up 28 of the 37 points that they have collected in League One this term.
Phil Parkinson will hope that his team can start picking up similar results on the road, having seen his side win just one of their previous six away league matches (D2, L3).
Team News
Burton midfielder Charlie Webster will serve the final game of a three-match suspension after being shown a straight red card against Charlton last month.
Hounsell could be tempted to stick with the same Burton lineup that started the 1-0 win over Peterborough in midweek.
Bennett will offer one of the home side's main attacking threats after scoring in the club's last two competitive matches.
As for the visitors, they are expected to be without Steven Fletcher, Jack Marriott, Arthur Okonkwo and George Evans.
Veteran goalkeeper Mark Howard is set to make his first league start of the season after he came off the bench to replace the injured Callum Burton in the first half of Tuesday's win over Barnsley.
James McClean and George Dobson will serve one-match bans after picking up their fifth yellow cards of the league season in midweek.
Burton Albion possible starting lineup:
Crocombe; Godwin-Malife, Vancooten, Sraha, Sweeney; Gilligan, Watt; Chauke, Bennett, Kalinauskas; Burrell
Wrexham possible starting lineup:
Howard; Cleworth, O'Connell, Brunt; Barnett, Cannon, James, Rathbone, Revan; Lee, Palmer
We say: Burton Albion 0-2 Wrexham
Wrexham have been unable to replicate their impressive home on the road this season, but while they have struggled to pick up wins on their travels, we still believe that they will have the extra quality required to get the better of relegation-threatened Burton.
