Wales international Ched Evans was convicted of rape and sentenced to five years in jail in April 2012. The 25-year-old was released in October 2014 having served half of his prison term. One month on, it was announced by former side Sheffield United that Evans would train with the club once more in order to regain his fitness levels.
The move by the League One outfit caused much outrage, with club patrons and sponsors threatening to withdraw their support from the club, although no decision on whether the one-time Manchester City striker will be accepted back at Bramall Lane on a full-time basis has yet been made.
