Sports Mole previews Wednesday's CONCACAF Nations League clash between El Salvador and Martinique, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

For the second time in a matter of days, Martinique will go head-to-head with El Salvador in the CONCACAF Nations League.

The Caribbean side will go into Tuesday's encounter in a confident mood after claiming a narrow 1-0 victory on Friday.

Match preview

El Salvador already know that they will be playing their football in League B in the 2024-25 Nations League after their relegation was confirmed on Friday.

The away meeting represented Ruben de la Barrera's first game in charge, but the Argentine was ultimately left disappointed, as his side fell to a 1-0 defeat in Martinique.

Having lost all three games in the current edition of the Nations League, La Selecta are currently sitting bottom of the group.

While El Salvador's fate may already be sealed, they will still be desperate to pick up a victory, having failed to win any of their last 14 internationals.

Their most recent victory took place in June 2022 when they clinched a 3-1 home win over Grenada in the 2022-23 Nations League.

Martinique, meanwhile, are looking to beat their Central American opponents for the third time in the space of four months.

They claimed a 2-1 victory when the two nations met in the Gold Cup group stage in June, before they recorded a 1-0 win on Friday courtesy of Johnny Marajo's first-half effort.

After edging out Curacao on matchday two in September, Martinique are now sitting in third position with six points to their name.

They are still in the hunt for a quarter-final birth, with Marc Collat's side sitting one point away from second-placed Panama and three points adrift of group leaders Trinidad and Tobago.

If they are to finish in the top two, Martinique need to better Panama's result against Guatemala, while a win and a Trinidad and Tobago defeat will only be enough to overtake the group leaders if there is a considerable swing in goal difference.

Team News

El Salvador have doubts over the availability of Narciso Orellana and Amando Moreno after the pair missed Friday's defeat through injury.

After featuring as substitutes in the 1-0 loss, Alejandro Henriquez and Enrico Duenas are in contention to start on Tuesday.

Having scored one of El Salvador's two goals in the Nations League campaign, Brayan Gil will offer one of the home side's main attacking threats.

As for the visitors, they have concerns over the fitness of Marajo, who was forced off in the 40th minute of the 1-0 victory.

Killian Polomat was brought on in Marajo's place, and he could be given a starting opportunity if Friday's match-winner is unable to take part.

Brighton Labeau will continue to lead the line for Martinique, with the forward looking to add to his four-goal international tally.

El Salvador possible starting lineup:
Gonzalez; Valladares, Cabalceta, Clavel, Henriquez; Menjivar, Alvarado, M. Gil, Santamaria; Duenas; B. Gil

Martinique possible starting lineup:
Clementia; Dussaut, Poulolo, Riverez, Latouchent; Mandouki, Appin; Reuperne, Cavelan, Polomat; Labeau

We say: El Salvador 1-2 Martinique

Martinique have already claimed two victories over El Salvador in the last four months, and we think that they will draw upon those experiences to claim maximum points in Tuesday's fixture.
