Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League Two clash between Fleetwood Town and Salford City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Salford City will look to claim three consecutive victories when they travel to Highbury Stadium for Tuesday's League Two clash against Fleetwood Town.

The Ammies are sitting in 13th place in the League Two table, with two points separating them from Fleetwood in 15th position.

Match preview

Fleetwood are currently experiencing a poor run of form, having taken just two points from their last four league matches.

The Cod Army began that run of games with a goalless draw against Bromley, before they fell to consecutive defeats against Port Vale and Crewe Alexandra.

They managed to avoid another defeat in Saturday's away clash with Newport County, although they had to be content with a goalless draw.

As a result, Fleetwood have mustered just one goal in four league matches since they produced a free-scoring display to thrash Walsall 6-2 at the start of the month.

The Cod Army are now preparing to face Salford in a competitive game for the very first time, with the hosts looking to claim their first home league win since the opening weekend of the season.

Salford will be satisfied with their work in recent weeks, having recorded three wins in their last five league matches.

The Ammies recorded a narrow win over AFC Wimbledon, before they lost 2-1 to Grimsby Town and played out a 1-1 draw against Crewe Alexandra.

After returning to winning ways with a 2-1 victory against Swindon Town, Salford went on to repeat that scoreline in Saturday's away clash with Colchester United.

Kelly N'Mai and Kylian Kouassi grabbed a goal apiece to fire the Ammies to their first competitive away win of the season.

After ending their away duck, Salford will now attempt to claim back-to-back away league victories for the first time since April 2023.

Team News

Fleetwood manager Charlie Adam is likely to stick with a back three of Brendan Wiredu, Finley Potter, and Kayden Hughes.

At the opposite end of the pitch, Ronan Coughlan could be brought into the side to partner Ryan Graydon in the Fleetwood forward line.

Coughlan is currently Fleetwood's leading scorer in the league this season, having netted four goals in 10 appearances.

As for the visitors, they are expected to be without the services of James Chester, Hakeeb Adelakun, Kevin Berkoe and Ryan Watson.

Winger Dan Chesters is likely to miss a second straight game after picking up an injury in last Tuesday's win against Swindon.

Liam Shephard could retain his place in the side after recovering from injury to play over an hour in Saturday's away victory.

Fleetwood Town possible starting lineup:
Harrington; Wiredu, Potter, Hughes; Johnston, Mayor, Bonds, Virtue-Thick, Hunt; Coughlan, Graydon

Salford City possible starting lineup:
Jones; Mnoga, Tilt, Austerfield; Shepherd, Ashley, Fornah, Garbutt; Woodburn; N'Mai, Kouassi

We say: Fleetwood Town 1-1 Salford City

With two points separating the two sides, we think that Tuesday's contest could produce a close-fought affair, and while Salford have won their last two matches, we believe that they will have to settle for a point against a Fleetwood side that have drawn three of their previous four home league games.
