Sports Mole previews Friday's Championship clash between Rotherham United and Ipswich Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

The Championship fixture between Rotherham United and Ipswich Town that was scheduled for Friday night has now been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Match preview

The majority of Ipswich supporters will naturally be expecting their side's form to drop off at some stage having not earned promotion back to the Championship earlier this year.

However, there is reason for optimism with six wins and one draw coming in all competitions after the first international break of the season.

Although three of their last four Championship fixtures have come at Portman Road, the Tractor Boys have still needed to deliver against Blackburn Rovers, Hull City and Preston North End.

A total of 10 goals were netted during that triple-header, with Ipswich now possessing the best attacking record in the division, yet Kieran McKenna knows that there are still improvements to be made on their travels.

While they have 1-0 wins at Sheffield Wednesday and Southampton to their name since the start of September, they were held to a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town on September 30.

Rotherham will take heart from Ipswich slipping up on their previous visit to Yorkshire at a time when their home form will prove pivotal in their efforts to get out of trouble.

Five of their six points accumulated this season have come on familiar territory, with their solitary win coming against Norwich City when the Canaries were challenging for top spot.

Since then, the Millers have failed to prevail in any of their last six league fixtures, losing on four occasions and not scoring more than once in any match.

Nevertheless, Matt Taylor's side went into the enforced break on a high having earned a 1-1 draw at Southampton, a necessary result that has at least kept them closer to 21st place and above.

Team News

Having had almost two weeks to shake off calf issues, Fred Onyedinma will hope to retain his place in the Rotherham XI.

Jordan Hugill appears likely to be recalled to the team having scored the equaliser at St Mary's, with Sam Nombe in line to drop to the substitutes' bench.

Despite having represented Jamaica as recently as Monday night, Dexter Lembikisa is expected to feature at right-back.

Meanwhile, Wes Burns is sidelined for Ipswich after suffering a shoulder injury while playing for Wales against Gibraltar last week.

Kayden Jackson is expected to deputise on the right flank, although he had already been in contention courtesy of his goal against Preston last time out.

Barring any further injury issues, the rest of the side may stay the same, Omari Hutchinson having to remain patient for regular game time in the league.

Rotherham United possible starting lineup:
Johansson; Lembikisa, Peltier, Hall, Bramall; Onyedinma, Tiehi, Cafu, Rathbone, Green; Hugill

Ipswich Town possible starting lineup:
Hladky; Williams, Woolfenden, Burgess, Davis; Morsy, Luongo; Jackson, Chaplin, Broadhead; Hirst

We say: Rotherham United 0-2 Ipswich Town

There is an argument that Rotherham are playing Ipswich at the right time given the break for international fixtures. Nevertheless, we do not expect the visitors to take long to get back into the swing of things, scoring a goal in each half to run out comfortable victors.
