Sports Mole previews Saturday's League Two clash between Notts County and Salford City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Salford City will attempt to secure consecutive victories in League Two when they travel to face Notts County, who also head into this match on the back of a win.

Both teams head into Saturday's fixture sitting in the bottom half of the table as they attempt to kick on and make progress in the final stage of the season.

Match preview

Notts County ended a six-game run without a victory in midweek by defeating Bradford City, which was a result that allowed them to leapfrog the Bantams in the league table at the same time.

It was a dominant performance from Stuart Maynard's men as they kept a clean sheet, while Alassana Jatta scored a brace. Macaulay Langstaff also got himself on the scoresheet in a 3-0 win.

The victory saw Notts County climb up to 13th in the table, giving the club a great opportunity to kick on and potentially push into the top half if they can secure another win this Saturday.

A consistent run of results could open up a late charge for a playoff position for the Magpies despite the fact they are six places away from it, as there are only six points between them and AFC Wimbledon right now.

Notts County should also head into the game with confidence considering they have already defeated Salford this season, in what was a dominant 2-0 victory that saw both teams finish with 10 men.

That defeat is something the visitors will be keen to avenge this time around, and they should head into the fixture with some self-belief after consecutive matches without a loss.

Salford followed a draw against Stockport County by impressively defeating Morecambe last weekend, with goals from Connor McLennan, Callum Hendry, and Curtis Tilt securing the 3-1 win.

Those results helped to guide the Ammies further away from the relegation zone, and even though three of the four teams below them boast games in hand, the 11-point gap does provide them with some breathing room.

That will take the pressure off Karl Robinson slightly, allowing the Salford manager to focus on finishing the season by guiding his team to as high of a finish as possible, even though the club is a long way from their overall promotion goals.

Another win this weekend could see the Ammies climb to 18th in the league table, which would continue to showcase the progress that is expected from the Salford fans.

Team News

After an impressive midweek performance from Notts County, there could be no changes made to the starting lineup due to the strong work both defensively and offensively in that match against Bradford.

With three goals between them in that victory, Jatta and Langstaff will certainly work together in the attack, but the Magpies do have several injuries to consider as well.

Sam Slocombe, Tobi Adebayo-Rowling and Will Randall are all sidelined at the moment, but Maynard could welcome back Aden Baldwin after his recent suspension.

McLennan should retain his position in the Salford midfield after scoring his first EFL goal, which could keep Declan John out of the team.

The visitors have been without Liam Shepard, Stevie Mallan, Ossama Ashley and Kelly Nmai recently due to injury, and that is set to continue this time around.

Notts County possible starting lineup:
Ashby-Hammond; Cameron, Macari, Warner; Robertson, Nemane, Jones, Crowley, Austin; Jatta, Langstaff

Salford City possible starting lineup:
Cairns; Vassell, Mariappa, Tilt; Chesters, Lund, Watt, Watson, McLennan; Morton, Hendry

We say: Notts County 2-1 Salford City

Both teams have made improvements to their performances in recent games, so they head into this fixture with confidence which should make for a closely-contested match.

However, Notts County should have just enough quality to edge through this one as the Magpies are focusing on making a late promotion push.
