Scunthorpe United will look to get back to winning ways in the National League on Tuesday, when they take on Woking at Glanford Park.
The hosts come into this one off the back of a goalless draw with Yeovil Town, while the visitors travel to Lincolnshire with a point to prove following a loss at home to York City.
Match preview
Scunthorpe come into their clash against Woking bereft of form and sitting 23rd in the National League table, with 16 points from 22 matches played under interim manager Michael Nelson.
The Iron have not won any of their last eight matches and look to be in increasing danger of being cut adrift in the relegation zone unless they rapidly start to pick up results.
Nevertheless, in their last match, Scunthorpe managed to record a 0-0 draw away to Yeovil, ending a run of six straight losses which has given them some small cause for optimism.
That was a first clean sheet of the season, which only serves to demonstrate their problems in defence that have seen Scunthorpe concede 45 times across the league campaign.
Come Tuesday, Nelson will be hoping his side can continue to show their defensive resolve as they attempt to make it two matches without defeat.
On the other hand, Woking make the trip to Glanford Park in fourth position and will look to strengthen their hold on a playoff position against Scunthorpe on Tuesday.
Darren Sarll has done a fantastic job since taking over at the helm in March this year, helping to dramatically improve the fortunes of a club who finished 15th in the National League in 2021-22.
Despite this, they have won just once in their last four matches across all competitions which will need to be addressed over the coming weeks.
Last time out, goals from Sam Sanders and Lenell John-Lewis condemned the Cardinals to a 2-0 defeat at home to York City.
Should Woking recover and secure three points at Scunthorpe, they could move as high as third in the National League table if other results fall their way.
Team News
Scunthorpe are unlikely to make too many changes for this one following their clean sheet against Yeovil, though will have to do without striker Joe Nuttall who has recently completed a move to relegation rivals Oldham Athletic.
Caolan Lavery is likely to continue in attack for the hosts, while Rob Apter could be replaced by Cameron Wilson in midfield.
The hosts are likely to keep an unchanged defensive line for the visit of Woking, which will leave Mason O'Malley on the bench once again.
For the visitors, Kyran Lofthouse is at risk of running into an unwanted suspension if he picks up a yellow card during this match.
Padraig Amond will be charged with leading the line, while Charlie O'Connell may come into the backline to replace Dan Moss.
Scunthorpe United possible starting lineup:
Dewhurst; Boyce, Rowe, Ogle; Wilson, Taft, Shrimpton, Beestin; Pugh, Lavery, Carver
Woking possible starting lineup:
Ross; Casey, Cuthbert, O'Connell, Vokins; Ince, Kellerman, Anderson; Browne, Grego-Cox, Amond
We say: Scunthorpe United 1-1 Woking
In a match with permutations at both ends of the table, we expect both sides to go all out for the win as they look to move further up the table.
Despite this, there will be no separating the pair on the day, resulting in a point apiece for both Scunthorpe and Woking.
