Aiming to pick up a first league victory since August, FC Volendam welcome Feyenoord to the Kras Stadion in round 13 of the 2022-23 Eredivisie season.

On the other hand, the visitors make the trip in search of a third league triumph in four outings off the back of a crucial European win in midweek last time out.

Match preview

Feyenoord booked their place in the knockout phase of this year's Europa League thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Serie A side Lazio at De Kuip on Thursday.

Santiago Gimenez grabbed the only goal of the game in the 64th minute to send Arne Slot's men through to the next round from the brink of continental elimination.

Back home, De Stadionclub have dropped down to fifth place in the Eredivisie table, albeit with a game in hand on three of the four teams above them.

Coming up next is the challenge of facing off against an opposing outfit who have come out on top just once in the last 20 meetings between the teams dating back to 1989.

Currently on a run of one victory in their last six games on the road across all competitions, Sunday's visitors will be looking to arrest their slump in form on enemy territory.

FC Volendam fell to a fourth defeat in five league outings following a narrow 2-1 loss to AZ Alkmaar at the AFAS Stadion on Sunday evening.

Despite being a man up, first-half goals from Jens Odgaard and Tijjani Reijnders left Wim Jonk's side with a mountain to climb before Henk Veerman halved the deficit two minutes into the second period.

With just six points picked up from twice as many matches so far, Het Andere Oranje remain rooted to the bottom of the standings and are now five points adrift of safety.

Having let in a whopping 14 goals across five home games this term, Sunday's hosts will need to be wary of being picked apart defensively in front of their fans once again.

Team News

Feyenoord's Oussama Idrissi remains sidelined due to a long-term muscle problem, and the Morocco international is unavailable for this weekend.

Twenty-one-year-old Santiago Gimenez could be rewarded with a place in the starting XI here after coming off the bench to good effect against Lazio.

Francesco Antonucci is yet to make an appearance for Volendam since the second week of August due to an ankle injury which will rule him out of Sunday's game as well.

Henk Veerman marked his return to action with a goal last time out, and the forward is expected to be given the nod to feature right from the off here.

FC Volendam possible starting lineup:
Stankovic; Murkin, Mirani, Mbuyamba, Plat; Eiting, Oristanio, Ould Chikh; El Kadiri, Veerman, Van Mieghem

Feyenoord possible starting lineup:
Bijlow; Pedersen, Trauner, Rasmussen, Hancko; Kokcu, Geertruida, Timber; Szymanski, Gimenez, Dilrosun

We say: FC Volendam 1-2 Feyenoord

Feyenoord played out an absorbing contest in midweek and that could take its toll in this weekend's encounter. Nonetheless, we can see the away side just about getting the job done come the sound of the final whistle.
