Sports Mole's Football Shorts: Should the 2019-20 season be cancelled?

In the latest edition of Sports Mole's Football Shorts podcast, we discuss whether the 2019-20 season should be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The future of the 2019-20 football season remains shrouded in uncertainty amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which has decimated the sporting calendar worldwide.

Premier League and EFL clubs are due to meet on Friday to hold the next round of discussions over plans going forward, with all football currently suspended until April 30 at the earliest.

In all likelihood the lockdown will drag on for longer than that, although there are thought to be plans in place to play games behind closed doors beginning in May, with the hope that the campaign can still be completed by June 30.

Should that not be feasible then the prospect of cancelling the season remains an option - a decision which could see Liverpool denied the Premier League title and Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion denied promotion, amongst other controversial consequences.

Here, Sports Mole editor Barney Corkhill and football editor Matt Law discuss the possible scenarios for the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign, and the knock-effect they could have on next season too.
