Chelsea Women will look to claim a fifth consecutive victory in all competitions when they face Manchester City Women at the Academy Stadium on Sunday.

The Citizens are also in impressive form, and they will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run to 14 Women's Super League matches.

Match preview

The WSL title represents Man City's only chance of winning silverware this season after they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa last weekend.

Deyna Castellanos cancelled out Rachel Corsie's opener, but with neither side able to find a winner in regulation time, an additional 30 minutes was required.

Ultimately, the quarter-final tie was decided by Rachel Daly's winner, leaving Man City to focus on their WSL for the remainder of the season.

Third-placed Man City will be prioritising Champions League qualification, but with two points separating them from league leaders Chelsea, who have a game in hand, they have the opportunity to leapfrog their opponents on Sunday.

Since losing to Chelsea in November 2021, Man City have embarked on a 15-game unbeaten home run in the WSL, but that record will come under threat on Sunday after suffering a 2-0 defeat to the Blues when the two sides met at Kingsmeadow earlier this season.

Since losing to Arsenal in the League Cup final, Chelsea have embarked on a positive run of form, recording four straight competitive victories, including a 1-0 win over European champions in midweek.

Wednesday's trip to France proved to be a fruitful one, as Guro Reiten's goal guided Chelsea to a narrow 1-0 win over Lyon in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Before the Blues can focus on Thursday's second leg, they must negotiate a tricky league fixture against Man City, as they look to maintain their grip on top spot.

Chelsea have not lost a league game since the opening day of the season, and after dropping just two points in their previous 13 WSL games, they will carry momentum into Sunday's encounter.

They can also draw confidence from the fact that they have won their previous four top-flight games against Man City.

Team News

Man City boss Gareth Taylor has revealed that there are no fresh injury concerns, although Khiara Keating remains sidelined.

Ellie Roebuck came into the side for the FA Cup meeting with Aston Villa and the goalkeeper is expected to retain her place for Sunday's contest.

Khadija Shaw is currently the WSL top scorer after scoring 15 goals in as many league games, and she will have the chance to add to that tally when she leads the line on Sunday.

As for the visitors, they are still without the services of Pernille Harder, Katerina Svitkova and Fran Kirby, who are all sidelined with injury issues.

Millie Bright was forced off just before half time against Lyon, but Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has suggested that the England international will be fit for Sunday's encounter.

Niamh Charles and Jessie Fleming dropped out of the lineup in midweek, but the pair could be recalled to the starting XI.

Manchester City Women possible starting lineup:
Roebuck; Caspraij, Houghton, Greenwood, Aleixandri; Hasegawa, Angeldahl; Kelly, Castellanos, Hemp; Shaw

Chelsea Women possible starting lineup:
Berger; Perisset, Buchanan, Bright, Charles; Cuthbert, Ingle; James, Fleming, Reiten; Kerr

We say: Manchester City Women 2-2 Chelsea Women

Chelsea have won 12 of their last 13 league games, but we think that they will have to settle for a point when they face a Man City side who are unbeaten in 15 home league matches.
