Manchester United Women will attempt to claim a fifth consecutive victory in all competitions when they play host to Everton Ladies on Sunday.

The visitors, meanwhile, have also performed well in the league in recent weeks, winning their last three Women's Super League games.

Match preview

A 1-0 victory over Reading in their most recent league game sent Manchester United to the top of the league table.

United, who are aiming to win their first WSL title, are ahead of defending champions Chelsea on goal difference, while they are three points clear of Arsenal, who have played a game less.

In their most recent outing, United squeezed past Championship side Sunderland in the fourth round of the FA Cup, claiming a narrow 2-1 victory thanks to a Nikita Parris brace.

The Red Devils are now unbeaten in eight games across all competitions, and they have also won their previous four matches.

Including last season, United have won 11 of their last 12 home league games, scoring at least three goals in 10 of those matches, ensuring that they head into Sunday's contest in a confident mood.

After finishing in 10th position last term, Everton have fared well in Brian Sorensen's first season in charge.

The Toffees currently sit in fifth place after winning their last three league matches, registering three goals in each of those victories.

Despite being in fine league form, the Toffees suffered a disappointing result last weekend, losing 1-0 in the FA Cup to Championship outfit Birmingham City.

Everton will turn their attention back to league matters, and they know that they will face a tough test after losing six of their last seven competitive meetings with United.

However, they can take confidence from their defensive away record, conceding only two goals in their five away league games this season.

Team News

Leah Galton is a doubt for the Red Devils after missing the last three matches due to an injury issue.

United boss Marc Skinner has revealed that January arrivals Lisa Naalsund and Jayde Riviere are four to five weeks away from reaching full fitness, and as a result, the pair will have to patiently wait for their debuts.

Alessia Russo, who is out of contract at the end of the season, was the subject of two bids from Arsenal in the January transfer window - one of which would have resulted in a world record transfer of £500,000 - but United rejected the offers, and the England international will now turn her attention to matters on the pitch when she leads the line on Sunday.

As for the visitors, Sorensen has indicated that Everton have no fresh injury concerns ahead of Sunday's encounter, although Katrine Veje remains unavailable.

Goalkeeper Emily Ramsey is on loan from United and as a result, she is ineligible to face her parent club, ensuring that Courtney Brosnan will retain her place in goal after playing in the FA Cup last weekend.

Clare Wheeler and Katja Snoeijs dropped down to the bench against Birmingham, but the pair are expected to return to the starting lineup on Sunday.

Manchester United Women possible starting lineup:
Earps; Batlle, Le Tissier, Turner, Blundell; Zelem, Ladd; Garcia, Toone, Parris; Russo

Everton Ladies possible starting lineup:
Ramsey; Hope, Finnigan, Sevecke, George; Bennison, K. Holmgaard, Wheeler; Sorensen, Park, Snoeijs

We say: Manchester United Women 2-1 Everton Ladies

Manchester United claimed a 3-0 victory over Everton when the two sides met in October, and although we expect Sunday's scoreline to be closer, we still expect the Red Devils to claim all three points.
