Sports Mole previews Tuesday's World Cup Qualifying - Africa clash between Chad and Comoros, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Chad will be looking to kickstart their World Cup qualification campaign at the fourth time of asking when they welcome Comoros to the Municipal Stadium pf Oudja on Tuesday.

On the other hand, the away side make the journey aiming to take one step closer towards securing a place at the next edition of football's biggest competition.

Match preview

Chad saw their perfect start to the qualifiers come to an end owing to a narrow 1-0 defeat to the Central African Republic on Wednesday afternoon.

Kevin Nicaise's men fell behind to Venuste Baboula's opener just shy of the half-hour mark, which was enough to decide a nervy and cagey affair.

Consequently, Les Sao remain rooted to the bottom of Group I and are now a whopping six points behind in the race for automatic qualification.

Next up is the task of facing off against an opposing outfit currently 59 places above in the latest FIFA rankings of all national teams.

Having recently ended a six-game home winless streak, Tuesday's hosts now go in search of consecutive wins in front of their fans for the first time since 2014.

Comoros were on the receiving of a 2-1 defeat against Madagascar when the sides locked horns at the First National Bank Stadium on Friday.

Goals in both halves from Rayan Raveloson left Stefano Cusin's men with a mountain to climb before El Fardou Ben pulled one back in stoppage time.

With six points picked up from three matches so far, Les Coelacantes are currently second in Group I, adrift of top spot only on goal difference.

Off the back of seeing their six-game unbeaten run end last time out, Tuesday's visitors will be keen to avoid suffering consecutive defeats for the first time since July 2023.

Team News

Still awaiting his first goal for Chad after eight matches, Amine Hiver could be dropped to the bench for this one in favour of Abdallah Abdelrazak.

Hyacinthe Bobandi is the only outfield player in hosts' current squad yet to feature, and the midfielder will be targeting an international debut here.

Comoros' El Fardou Ben came off the bench to score against Madagascar, which could see him rewarded with a place in the starting lineup here.

Myziane Maolida endured a rough day in front of goal for the visitors last time out, but the 25-year-old is expected to lead the line once again.

Chad possible starting lineup:
Allabatna; Tchouplaou, Mbogo, Ndonane, Abderamane; Youssouf, Mbangossoum, Thiam, Allarabaye; Marius, Abdelrazak

Comoros possible starting lineup:
Ben Boina; Abdallah, M'Dahoma, Zahary, Bakari; Mohamed, Abdullah, M'Changama; Youssouf, Maolida, Selemani

We say: Chad 1-2 Comoros

Chad have been found wanting at both ends of the pitch across their three qualifiers, and it is hard to see them coming away with a positive result here despite playing on home turf. We are backing Comoros to get the job done, albeit by only a narrow margin.
