Charlton Athletic will attempt to claim their first win of December when they play host to Burton Albion in Saturday's League One contest.
The visitors, who are currently without a permanent manager, will be looking to record their first league victory since October 21.
Match preview
Charlton have experienced a difficult month up to this point, having suffered two cup exits and settled for draws in their last two league games.
After falling to a 2-0 defeat to Gillingham in the FA Cup, Michael Appleton's side were knocked out of the EFL Trophy just days later, losing out on penalties to fellow League One side Reading.
The Addicks subsequently gave up a two-goal lead to draw against Cambridge United, before Corey Blackett-Taylor netted a 70th-minute equaliser to salvage a point from last Saturday's away meeting with Barnsley.
Although Charlton are now unbeaten in six league games, four of their last five matches in League One have finished all square, and a failure to convert draws into victories has contributed to the nine-point gap that stands between the Addicks and the playoff positions.
Despite struggling for wins in recent weeks, Charlton will fancy their chances of claiming all three points against Burton, having won three of their four home league meetings (L1), including both of the last two.
Meanwhile, Burton are currently under the guidance of caretaker boss Gary Mills following the departure of Dino Maamria, who was sacked after a 2-1 defeat to Stevenage earlier this month.
Maamria was dismissed after overseeing a dismal run of form, where the Brewers picked up just one point in six league matches.
Unfortunately for Mills, the first game of his interim tenure resulted in a heavy 3-0 away defeat to promotion-chasing Oxford United.
Burton, who are just four points clear of the drop zone, have now lost five consecutive matches in League One, while they have failed to trouble the scorers in five of their six outings in the third tier.
Having drawn one and lost three of their last four head-to-head meetings, Burton travel to The Valley with aspirations of beating Charlton for the first time since recording a 2-1 victory in November 2021.
Team News
Charlton are without Harry Isted and Lucas Ness due to knee injuries, while Panutche Camara and Chuks Aneke remain sidelined with hamstring issues.
The Addicks are also unable to call upon the injured quartet of Lloyd Jones, Conor McGrandles, Terry Taylor and Miles Leaburn.
After coming into the team last weekend, Slobodan Tedic could retain his place in the forward line, with Appleton likely to name an unchanged starting lineup.
As for the visitors, they are still without the services of versatile defender Tom Hamer, who is a long-term injury absentee.
Oxford loanee Steve Seddon, who was ineligible to face his parent club last weekend, could be brought into the side to feature in a backline alongside Ryan Sweeney, Sam Hughes and Jake Caprice.
After dropping down to the bench for the defeat to Oxford, Mason Bennett is in contention for a recall to the starting lineup for Saturday's trip to The Valley.
Charlton Athletic possible starting lineup:
Maynard-Brewer; T. Watson, Thomas, Hector, Edun; Fraser, Dobson, Campbell; May, Blackett-Taylor, Tedic
Burton Albion possible starting lineup:
Crocombe; Caprice, Hughes, Sweeney, Seddon; Harper, Powell; Baah, Oshilaja, Bennett; Stockton
We say: Charlton Athletic 2-0 Burton Albion
Charlton may be frustrated by a flurry of draws, but we think that they will return to winning ways against a Burton side that will be low on confidence following a run of five consecutive league defeats.
