Sports Mole previews Saturday's League One clash between Exeter City and Peterborough United, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Exeter City welcome Peterborough United to the South Coast on Saturday, looking to reignite their League One campaign.

The Grecians sit in 12th position, nine points behind their opponents, who have won all of their three last league games.

Match preview

Exeter bounced back from defeat to rivals Plymouth Argyle with a thrilling 3-2 victory at Port Vale in the FA Cup last weekend.

The hosts took the lead through Dennis Politic before Jevani Brown equalised and then gave his side the lead, before a mad final few minutes saw Vale get back on level terms through Daniel Butterworth only for Archie Collins to score two minutes later to earn Gary Caldwell his first win in charge.

They have struggled for form as of late, though, winning just once in their last five league matches, which was against Fleetwood Town in their last home game - their fourth victory at St James Park this season.

Exeter have been dangerous going forward - only the top four teams in the league have scored more than their 28, 14 of which have come at home.

They have taken to the third tier with relative ease following promotion last term, sitting just inside the top half of the table, five points outside of the playoff positions.

Peterborough have found their feet again after a dip in form through September.

They have picked up three consecutive league victories, including their last away game at Oxford United, but were held to a goalless draw in the FA Cup at home to Salford City last weekend.

Their away record has produced more misses than hits so far, with just three wins on their travels, conceding 15 times in their eight games away from home.

Manager Grant McCann was nominated for the Manager of the Month award after his side picked up 16 points from their seven October contests, a run which solidified their place in the playoffs.

A second consecutive away win could take them to within three points of second-placed Ipswich Town, ahead of what appears on paper to be a challenging run of games.

Team News

Exeter are likely to keep the team the way it is from the win at Port Vale, after making just one change for that game.

Brown, the team's top scorer, faces a reunion with the team that he started his career at, and should start behind the two strikers of Samuel Nombe and Jay Stansfield.

Speaking of top scorers, the league's leading marksman Jonson Clarke-Harris has shaken off a knock he suffered in the victory over Cambridge United two weeks ago to be fully fit for this game.

Frankie Kent is suspended after picking up his fifth booking in that game, so Kell Watts could come in and start his first league game for the club, but Joe Ward and Kwame Poku are both doubts with injuries.

Exeter City possible starting lineup:
Blackman; Key, Sweeney, Hartridge; Sparkes, Dieng, Collins, Caprice; Brown; Nombe, Stansfield

Peterborough United possible starting lineup:
Bergstrom; Thompson, Edwards, Watts, Butler; Fuchs, Taylor; Mason-Clark, Burrows, Jones, Clarke-Harris

We say: Exeter City 1-1 Peterborough United

Caldwell is taking charge of his first home game so will get his players right up for it. Posh are poor away from home, but should still have enough quality to at least equal their hosts.
