Sports Mole previews Thursday's friendly clash between Norway and Jordan, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

With just one victory in their previous six matches in all competitions, Norway will be hoping to pick up some momentum as they head into the upcoming international friendlies.

Their opponents, Jordan, are the polar opposite in terms of form at the moment due to suffering only a single loss in the same number of games.

Match preview

Norway head into Thursday night on the back of an impressive 3-1 win against Cyprus in a Euro 2024 qualifier, which kept their hopes of reaching the tournament alive.

A brace from Erling Haaland and a goal by Ola Solbakken wrapped up the result, and conceding in the 93rd minute did not make any impact on the overall game.

However, Stale Solbakken will be well aware that he needs more from his team overall due to the fact they have only picked up one victory in their previous six matches in all competitions.

The most recent victory was the first time that Norway has scored more than once in any of those matches, which has been a big problem for the team overall.

A lack of goals while being unable to keep a clean sheet has led to a difficult period for Norway, but with more qualification games upcoming it is crucial Norway use this to build momentum.

The visitors have plenty of that, though, due to the fact they have only lost a single match in their previous six, showcasing consistency and quality.

Scoring goals has not been a problem for Jordan in that period, finding the back of the net 15 times to showcase the quality that they have in front of goal.

Keeping that style of play up will likely lead to them causing a lot of issues for Norway this week, particularly since Adnan Hamad's men have defended well too.

Jordan have kept four clean sheets in their last six games, and the combination of attacking and defensive qualities should lead to plenty of problems this time around.

Team News

Of course, the pressure will very much be on Haaland to fire the hosts to victory in this fixture, with the Manchester City striker being the star man for Norway.

However, he will likely be flanked by Solbakken and Alexander Sorloth, which is an attacking trio that has all the potential to cause real problems on Thursday night.

Yazan Al-Arab will likely have his hands full in the central defensive role for the visitors, and a strong personal performance from him is going to be important for Jordan's success.

However, with a 3-4-3 formation, Jordan will be holding nothing back in this match as they typically push for goals in a bid to remain competitive in games.

Norway possible starting lineup:
Nyland; Ryerson, Ostigard, Strandberg, Meling; Odegaard, Berg, Aursnes; Sorloth, Haaland, Solbakken

Jordan possible starting lineup:
Laila; Hasheesh, Arab, Naseeb; Haddad, Sadeh, Al-Rawabdeh, Mardhi; Al-Taamari, Al-Naimat, Olwan

We say: Norway 2-1 Jordan

Jordan mght come into this game with better form in recent times, but the attacking qualities of the hosts is likely going to be too much.

Haaland has all the potential to fire Norway to victory here, and while he has a lot of pressure on his shoulders, that is something he is capable of dealing with.
