Sports Mole previews Saturday's Argentine Primera Division clash between Platense and Tigre, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Platense will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Tigre at Estadio Ciudad de Vicente Lopez in the Argentine Primera Division on Saturday evening.

The hosts suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat last time out, whilst Tigre were successful in midweek Copa Sudamericana action on home soil against Venezuelan opposition.

Match preview

Platense's run of alternating between victory and defeat in all competitions continued last weekend they when lost narrowly at Argentinos Juniors, with a 94-minute Leonardo Heredia goal deciding the contest.

Atletico have now lost five-straight away matches, with their most-recent maximum on the road coming all the way back at the start of April against struggling Banfield.

Martin Palermo's men sit 14th in the Argentine Primera Division standings having collected a steady 23 points from their opening 19 matches this term - a challenge for the top positions is off the cards already.

Nicolas Servetto has been scoring the goals for the hosts so far this term - the 27-year-old has netted six times in 19 leagues appearances, twice as many as Nicolas Castro and Ronaldo Martinez.

Tigre took a massive step towards advancing to the knockout stages of the Copa Sudamericana with a 2-1 home success over Academia Puerto Cabello - a side who have yet to collect a point in the section.

Goals either side of the half-time interval from Brian Luciatti and Blas Armoa made sure the three points would be going to the hosts at Estadio Jose Dellagiovanna, despite a late consolation strike from Danny Perez.

Returning their attention to domestic matters, Diego Martinez's side find themselves languishing in 16th in the Primera Division standings - the visitors on Saturday have significant work to do if they are to match last season's seventh-placed finish.

Mateo Retegui has been the standout performer for Tigre so far this term - so much so that the 24-year-old's form was rewarded with a place and gametime during Italy's March internationals against Malta and England.

Team News

Platense could make some attacking changes to their side after failing to score at Argentino Juniors last time out, with the likes of Nadir Zeineddin pushing for a start.

Vincente Taborda will be tasked with providing the creative spark for the hosts on Saturday - the 21-year-old has added four goal contributions in 19 appearances this term.

Tigre remain without the services of Ijiel Protti, with the 28-year-old expected to be sidelined until August at least due to an Achilles tendon injury.

Lucas Blondel is a shorter-term absentee for the visitors due to his groin injury, but nevertheless the former Atletico Rafaela man will not be featuring on the weekend.

Platense possible starting lineup:
Macagno; Asis, Jacquet, Pellegrino, Marcich; Martinez, Rossi, Castro, Schor, Taborda; Servetto

Tigre possible starting lineup:
Marinelli; Ortega, Cabrera, Luciatti, Montoya; Menossi, Cardozo, Molinas; Colidio, Retegui, Armoa

We say: Platense 1-1 Tigre

Platense will be confident of earning a fourth-straight home victory but face a tough assignment against a Tigre side who will be buoyed by their midweek success in the Sudamericana.

Tigre have not won in the Argentine Primera Liga since April but should be good enough to get a point on the road on Saturday evening.
