Sports Mole previews Monday's Australian A-League clash between Adelaide United and Perth Glory, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Adelaide United will be looking to commence the New Year on a high with the visit of Perth Glory to the Coopers Stadium on Tuesday morning.

The away side make the trip in search of a first win in three matches as they plot an escape from the foot of the Australian A-League table.

Match preview

Adelaide United came away empty-handed from their clash against Newcastle Jets last Tuesday, which ended in a disappointing 1-0 defeat.

Carl Veart's men were on top for the majority of the contest and paid the ultimate price for not finding the breakthrough, as Jaushua Sotirio grabbed the only goal of the tie.

As a result, the Reds have now dropped one place down to fourth in the standings, albeit remaining in the playoff places on goal difference.

In store next is the task of facing off against an opposing outfit with little to choose between the sides, as the last nine meetings have yielded four wins apiece and one stalemate.

Off the back of a first home league defeat of the season last time out, Monday's visitors will be keen to avoid back-to-back losses in front of their fans for the first time since April.

Perth Glory played out a share of the spoils against Wellington Phoenix two Fridays ago when the teams locked horns at the Macedonia Park.

Ruben Zadkovich's men broke the deadlock midway through the opening half through David Williams, after which Oskar Zawada levelled matters just past the half-hour mark.

The Glory continue to endure an underwhelming start to the current campaign, which has yielded just seven points from a possible 24 to date.

Having shipped a division-high 11 goals on the road this term, Monday's visitors will be wary of being picked apart defensively away from home once more.

Team News

Despite seeing his four-game scoring streak for Adelaide come to an end against Newcastle Jets, Craig Goodwin remains one of the key stars to look out for.

Following his return from a one-game suspension, Sanchez Cortes was handed an immediate return to the starting XI and the veteran midfielder is expected to retain his place in the lineup.

Perth Glory's Luke Bodnar remains an injury doubt as he continues to nurse a muscle problem which has seen him sit out each of the last three games.

Giordano Colli has scored both of his side's most recent two goals away from home, and the 22-year-old will look to come up trumps for the visiting team yet again.

Adelaide United possible starting lineup:
Gauci; Lopez, Barr, Popovic, Kitto; Prados, Sanchez; Clough, Alagich, Goodwin; Ibusuki

Perth Glory possible starting lineup:
Reddy; Clisby, Beevers, Lachman, Muir, Khelifi; Williams, Amini, McEneff, Jelacic; Williams

We say: Adelaide United 2-0 Perth Glory

Perth Glory have found goals hard to come by of late, registering just seven across their opening eight games. We can see the trend continuing in Monday's clash with Adelaide United cruising to a relatively straightforward victory.
