Almere City will be aiming to snap a run of three straight defeats when they welcome Vitesse to the Yanmar Stadion on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, the away side go in search of consecutive victories for the first time this season having returned to winning ways last time out.

Match preview

Almere came away empty-handed from a third straight match in a 4-1 defeat against AZ Alkmaar at the AFAS Stadion on Saturday evening.

Alex Pastoor's men fell behind to Vangelis Pavlidis's opener but managed to restore parity through Loic Mbe Soh before goals from Dani de Wit, David Wolfe and Pavlidis decided the game.

Consequently, De Zwarte Schapen have dropped down to 13th in the Eredivisie table but are only in the relegation zone only on goal difference.

Having let in seven goals across their last two matches on home turf, Sunday's hosts will be wary of suffering another defensive collapse in front of their fans.

Vitesse secured a much-needed reprieve as they got the better of Heracles Almelo in a 2-0 victory at the GelreDome on Sunday afternoon.

Edward Sturing's men got their noses in front through Gyan de Regt's opener after which Amine Boutrah put the outcome beyond doubt 17 minutes from time.

With 11 points amassed from 15 league matches so far, Geel en Zwart sit bottom but one in the league standings, two points adrift of safety.

Lying in store next is a first-ever meeting against an opposing outfit who are taking part in what is only their debut top-flight campaign in the club's history.

Ahead of their cup tie against Heerenveen four days later, Sunday's visitors will be keen to keep their momentum going with a positive result this weekend.

Team News

Thomas Buitink and Miliano Jonathans are both ruled out of contention for Vitesse as the latter prepares to miss a fifth consecutive game.

The home side will also have to make do with Mica Pinto's absence while Carlens Arcus and Davy Propper continue to nurse ankle and knee injuries respectively.

Almere's Loic Mbe Soh opened his account for his new employers at the 11th time of asking and will be looking to pick up where he left off.

Twenty-three-year-old Hamdi Akujobi remains unavailable for selection, having failed to feature for the hosts since October due to a knee problem.

Almere City possible starting lineup:
Bakker; Mbe Soh, Van Bruggen, Jacobs; Floranus, Koopmeiners, Resink, Ritmeester; Robinet, Van La Parra, Hansen

Vitesse possible starting lineup:
Room; Cornelisse, Hendriks, Isimat-Mirin, Van Zwam; Tielemans, Domgjoni; Manhoef, Kozlowski, De Regt; Van Ginkel

We say: Almere City 1-1 Vitesse

Given the defensive records of both sides heading into this one, we expect neither of them to come away with a clean sheet. We can also see the spoils being shared at the end of the 90 minutes, with the teams having to make do with a point apiece.
