Getafe and Mallorca conclude their respective La Liga campaigns with a showdown at Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Sunday.
While the home side will be bidding to secure the win that may move them into the top half of the standings, Mallorca head into this contest having mathematically avoided relegation.
Match preview
Having performed above last season's 15th-placed finish throughout this campaign, Getafe can be largely satisfied with their efforts since August.
They already face a worst-case scenario of 14th spot this time around, yet Jose Bordalas will be frustrated with how his players are ending 2023-24.
Four successive defeats have been posted without scoring a single goal, losing to Athletic Bilbao, Cadiz, Atletico Madrid and Alaves respectively.
The eight points that came from the preceding five games have been quickly forgotten, with the Deep Blue Ones now on a run of just one win in eight.
Getafe's last success at Coliseum Alfonso Perez came against Girona on March 16 and they have scored just 19 goals in their 18 home encounters.
In the case of Mallorca, they have been scrapping to avoid relegation, a considerable comedown from their ninth-placed finish during the last campaign.
Nevertheless, a run of five points from their last three fixtures - their longest unbeaten run since December - has ensured that Javier Aguirre's side have gotten over the line.
The upturn in results may be enough to keep Aguirre in a job, yet he will want to ensure that momentum is built ahead of 2024-25 with just one away win to their name in 18 league outings.
That came against Celta Vigo all the way back in September, and they still have the possibility of achieving 14th position if they can add a second to their name this weekend.
Team News
Getafe will have to make do without Ilaix Moriba after the midfielder received two yellow cards having been introduced as a substitute at Alaves.
Diego Rico and Juanmi Latasa are also missing due to yellow-card accumulation, with Fabrizio Angileri in line to come into the side at left wing-back.
Djene Dakonam is in contention to feature on the right, depending on whether Bordalas wants to overly-tinker with his starting lineup.
Aguirre could plausibly stick with the same Mallorca XI that posted a 2-2 draw with Almeria last time out.
If a change is made, it could come in midfield with Omar Mascarell taking the spot of Samu Costa, with Siebe van der Heyden the only injury doubt.
Getafe possible starting lineup:
Soria; Carmona, Aberdin, Alderete, Alvarez, Anglieri; Maksimovic, Santiago, Milla; Mata, Greenwood
Mallorca possible starting lineup:
Rajkovic; Gonzalez, Valjent, Raillo, Copete, Costa; Rodriguez, Mascarell, Darder; Larin, Muriqi
We say: Getafe 2-1 Mallorca
Despite the difference in league positions, it is the visitors who head into this contest in the better form. Nevertheless, now with only pride to play for, Mallorca's level may drop, leaving us to predict a narrow victory for the home side.
