Sports Mole previews Saturday's League One clash between Peterborough United and Lincoln City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Peterborough United will be hoping to quickly bounce back from defeat in their last League One outing when they host Lincoln City at the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the visitors will have the opportunity to win three consecutive league matches after beating Stevenage in their last league game.

Match preview

Peterborough kicked off their EFL Trophy campaign with a 2-1 victory away at Gillingham, leaving them top of Group L after one matchday.

However, it was not the same case when the Posh were in League One last time out, as they lost 2-0 to Wrexham on home soil, failing to find a way back after conceding both goals in the first half.

Darren Ferguson, who took the team to the playoffs last season before losing in the semi-final, will be disappointed with his team's start to the new campaign, having already lost twice in only four league matches.

These results have left Peterborough with six points and in 11th place, as they head into their fifth league game of the season against Lincoln City, a side they have not lost to in the last five encounters between them.

Of those five games, Posh have won three while drawing two, and more encouraging ahead of this clash is that two of those wins have come at the Weston Homes Stadium.

However, Ferguson's side have lost their two home matches in the new League One season, conceding four goals and scoring none – losing 2-0 to both Huddersfield and Wrexham.

Lincoln City were also in EFL Trophy action, but unlike the hosts, theirs ended in a 1-0 defeat at home to Chesterfield, as they could not respond to Connor Cook's 55th-minute goal.

The Imps missed out on the chance to put together a three-match unbeaten streak across all competitions, having won two consecutive League One matches prior to that – a 4-1 win over Mansfield Town and a 1-0 victory over Stevenage in their last league outing.

Michael Skubala, who was nominated for the August Manager of the Month award, will be pleased with how well his side have started the season, picking up nine points from a possible 12 to sit in sixth place, having played one fewer game than three of the five teams above them.

The visitors will now turn their focus to Saturday's clash away at Peterborough, looking to make it 12 consecutive away league games without defeat since losing to Blackpool on New Year's Day.

Team News

Peterborough are expected to remain without the services of defender Rio Adebisi and midfielder Ryan De Havilland due to injury.

Mahamadou Susoho, who sustained a muscle injury before the EFL Cup game against Oxford, is also sidelined and has returned to his parent club Manchester City for treatment.

The hosts have not made any changes to their starting XI in the last two matches, and Ferguson is likely to stick with the same lineup once again.

Lincoln will remain without the services of long-term injury absentees Ethan Hamilton and Reeco Hackett.

Ben House, who has scored two league goals this season, is expected to start in attack alongside Jovon Makama once again.

Peterborough United possible starting lineup:
Steer; Curtis, Fernandez, Wallin, Sparkes; Kyprianou, Collins; Poku, Randall, Odoh; Mothersille

Lincoln City possible starting lineup:
Wickens; Jackson, O'Connor, Roughan; Darikwa, McGrandles, Erhahon, Bayliss, Jefferies; House, Makama

We say: Peterborough United 1-2 Lincoln City

Although Peterborough have dominated this fixture in recent years, they are not the favourites coming into this clash due to their recent results and Lincoln City's form.

The visitors have been virtually unstoppable on the road this year, and we believe that they have what it takes to secure a win away from home once again.
