Sports Mole previews Saturday's National League clash between Chesterfield and Dorking Wanderers, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Two teams at the opposite ends of the National League table are set to collide on Saturday as promotion hopefuls Chesterfield will host Dorking Wanderers.

The visitors are currently sat 17th right now and head into this match on the back of a defeat, but a victory could potentially see them climb into the top half.

Match preview

Chesterfield might be eight points off the top of the table right now, but they are a team that have shown their promotion potential in the first half of the campaign.

A victory on Saturday has the possibility of moving them into the top three as they currently sit level with Woking on points.

However, the Spireites showcased an FA Cup hangover last weekend when they were defeated 1-0 against Halifax Town, despite the fact they earned a place in the third round of the knockout competition prior to that.

Chesterfield will now be hoping that defeat was simply a blip and that they can get back to winning ways as they had a nine-match undefeated run before last Saturday.

At home Chesterfield have showcased a lot of confidence throughout the season, having won eight matches with only two defeats to their name so far.

The visitors will be hoping to provide a more competitive game on Saturday than they managed in their previous meeting which ended in a 2-0 loss.

Jack Bridge and Shaun Hobson's first-half goals proved to be more than enough in that particular game, and Dorking Wanderers will be wanting to push them more this time around.

Right now the team has an eight-point cushion over the relegation zone, but they will not want to risk that being shrunk heading into a busy period of games.

However, they will need a stronger performance than they mustered in midweek, as Dorking suffered a 3-1 loss against Halifax Town in that match.

A 78th-minute goal from Ryan Seager proved to be nothing more than a consolation in that match, and considering they have conceded more than any other team in the league, the need for concentration is high.

Team News

Joe Quigley will be hoping to retain his place in the team this weekend despite the fact that Chesterfield did not get themselves a goal last weekend.

However, Ollie Banks was not able to feature in that game as he continues to deal with a hamstring problem while Manny Oyeleke is also sidelined with a knee injury.

Joe Walsh retained his place in goal last weekend, and even though Dorking Wanderers have continued struggling defensively he could still be given another chance.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the field, it will likely be James McShane that leads the line due to the goal threat that he has provided throughout the campaign.

Chesterfield possible starting lineup:
Fitzsimons; King, Palmer, Grimes, Clements; Oldaker, Jones, Mandeville, Dobra, Whelan; Quigley

Dorking Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Walsh; Philpott, Cook, Gallagher, Jebb; Moore, Taylor, Pattenden, Taylor; McShane, Seager

We say: Chesterfield 2-0 Dorking Wanderers

Dorking Wanderers have been struggling defensively throughout the season, and that is something that could lead to them struggling this weekend.

Chesterfield are one of the strongest teams in the division and they will be the heavy favourites heading into this one.
