Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Championship clash between Coventry City and Millwall, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Millwall travel to the Midlands to face Coventry City on Tuesday evening looking to strengthen their hold of a Championship playoff spot.

At a time when the Lions occupy fifth place in the standings, Coventry find themselves down in 15th position after an indifferent run of form.

Match preview

Although Mark Robins may feel that Coventry are only a couple of wins away from getting back into the promotion hunt, he will also recognise that his side are not performing anywhere close to a level required to achieve that goal.

Just two victories have been posted in their last 11 league fixtures, a total of just 10 points being accumulated during that period.

On a positive note, Coventry responded to conceding an early goal against Luton Town at the weekend to earn a point, while also seeing out the closing minutes with 10 men.

Sitting 10 points above the relegation zone, the Sky Blues will not get embroiled in a battle to avoid the drop this campaign, but similar spirit will need to be shown on a weekly basis or their season will quickly peter out.

Robins will hope that his team can continue their strong home form, however, with just one defeat coming on familiar territory in 10 fixtures.

As far as Millwall are concerned, they are not been talked about as genuine promotion contenders, yet Gary Rowett's side are now fifth with at least one game in hand on some of the teams above them.

Just three defeats have been posted in their most recent 18 contests in the second tier, all of which have come on their travels, but the Lions secured a second away triumph in succession on Saturday afternoon.

January arrivals Duncan Watmore and Oliver Burke got the goals as a 2-1 win was recorded at Queens Park Rangers, making it four victories from seven for the London outfit.

Should they make it five from eight on Tuesday, a four-point gap could be established above seventh place by the end of the evening.

Team News

Coventry will be forced into at least one change with Josh Wilson-Ebrand being sent off for two yellow cards against Luton.

Jake Bidwell will slot into the team at left-back, while Brooke Norton-Cuffy may return on the opposite flank.

Tyler Walker and Sean Maguire are alternatives to Matt Godden if Robins would prefer not to push the forward after his recent return from injury.

Having talked up his side's performance at QPR, Rowett may consider naming an unchanged Millwall starting lineup.

Although Burke has put himself in contention for a start after netting as a substitute, Tom Bradshaw may retain his spot down the middle of the attack.

Coventry City possible starting lineup:
Wilson; McNally, McFadzean, Doyle; Eccles, Hamer, Allen, Bidwell; Palmer; Godden, Gyokeres

Millwall possible starting lineup:
Long; McNamara, Cresswell, Cooper, Wallace; Mitchell, Saville; Honeyman, Flemming, Watmore; Bradshaw

We say: Coventry City 1-2 Millwall

With Coventry having performed far better at home this season than on their travels, they will back themselves to earn a result against Millwall. However, the visitors have found a way of churning out wins, and we feel that will continue in a tight fixture.
