Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League Two clash between Sutton United and Crawley Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Sutton United could move one point behind League Two's playoff positions by beating Crawley Town on Tuesday.

Crawley, meanwhile, will be aiming to put an end to a five-match losing streak and climb outside of the relegation places in the process.

Match preview

Having missed out on reaching the playoffs by only one point in their first ever season in the Football League, Sutton are determined not to fall short once again this time around.

Matt Gray's side have lost just two of their last 16 league matches ahead of hosting Crawley at Gander Green Lane in midweek, with a 1-1 draw against Crewe Alexandra on Saturday keeping them within four points of the top seven positions.

The Yellows fell behind to Dan Agyei's first-half strike before Rod McDonald's dismissal after the hour mark increased Sutton's chances of securing a positive result, with Coby Rowe's injury-time equaliser claiming a crucial point for his side.

Coming up against a team who have failed to win away from home all season, the 41-year-old will sense an excellent opportunity to return to winning ways against Crawley, as Sutton to mount a promotion charge.

Crawley, on the other hand, are in danger of falling out of the Football League for the first time since their first ever promotion from the fifth tier in 2011.

Despite appointing former Swindon Town boss Scott Lindsey as manager in January earlier this year, the Red Devils' form has remained distinctly lackluster, with Lindsey winning just one of his eight matches in charge so far.

Their 1-0 defeat away to Northampton Town on Saturday was particularly disappointing considering that Jack Sowerby's 79th-minute winner came seven minutes after Aaron McGowan had been given his marching orders for the hosts.

As such, with Hartlepool United drawing away to Tranmere Rovers, Crawley must beat Sutton on Tuesday if they are to move out of the drop zone.

Team News

Gray could restore Enzio Boldewijn to his starting XI on Tuesday, having only used the utility man from the bench during their draw against Crewe last time out.

The Dutchman's inclusion could allow either David Ajiboye or Will Randall a breather, with Gray likely to be mindful of fatigue setting in among his playing staff during a busy schedule.

Crawley, meanwhile, are likely to remain without Teddy Jenks for the rest of the season as the midfielder continues to nurse a serious hamstring injury.

Lindsey could bring Jordon Mutch into the heart of his midfield in order to provide more experience within his ranks, with the visitors hoping to win their first match on the road all season.

Sutton United possible starting lineup:
Rose; Kizzi, Rowe, Goodliffe, Hart; Boldewijn, Eastmond, Beautyman, Randall; Bugiel, Angol

Crawley Town possible starting lineup:
Addai; Gordon, Lynch, Conroy, Fellows; Mason, Mutch, Powell, Oteh; Nadesan, Telford

We say: Sutton United 2-1 Crawley Town

Crawley are rarely thrashed despite their lowly league position, but we expect Sutton to continue their strong form by squeezing out a vital victory.

Gray's side have won 10 league games at home this season, whereas Crawley have been defeated in 11 of their winless 17 trips away from home.
