Sports Mole previews Saturday's Australian A-League clash between Perth Glory and Western United, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Two teams sitting outside the top six of the A-League table will meet on Saturday which will create one final chance for them to earn a place in the finals series.

Western United travel to play Perth Glory with both teams aiming to get back to winning ways after disappointing results in their previous outings.

Match preview

Perth Glory have failed to win in their previous three matches and that run has seen them slip down the table at a crucial time in the season.

Despite the frustrating period Ruben Zadkovich's men still have the chance to capture a top-fix finish to be part of the finals series, but it will require a victory on Saturday.

Even then they will be relying on other results and goal difference, but after scoring four in their most recent outing the attacking aspect of their game is strong enough to make up the difference.

Perth Glory will need to be focused until the last minute this time around though as they threw away three points last weekend by conceding a 99th-minute goal, despite scoring twice themselves in stoppage time.

However, the team will be confident considering they have only lost a single game at home throughout the campaign, having made their stadium a fortress.

Despite the strong run that Perth Glory have got, the visitors were able to defeat them when they met earlier this season as goals from Tongo Doumbia and Noah Botic helped them win 2-1.

Following that result will give Western United a chance to earn a top-six finish, but they are in the same boat as their opponents relying on others while also requiring all three points.

The Western Service Crew do come into this one on the back of a difficult result against the league leaders, though, as they were beaten 3-1 by Melbourne City.

Considering the importance that goal difference could play into the overall league standings, the fact that only one team have conceded more this season could be an area to focus on.

However, Western United have played well away from home throughout the campaign with only three other teams winning more on the road.

Team News

Adam Taggart is sure to be leading the line again this time around with his attacking quality having been impressive throughout the campaign, especially following his brace last time out.

Jacob Muir could also return to the starting lineup after he returned from injury as a substitute during the 4-4 draw against Adelaide United.

Alessandro Diamanti has revealed that he will be retiring at the end of the season, and considering that this could be Western United's final match he will be hoping to feature in some capacity.

Neil Kilkenny also returned to the bench last weekend after a month on the sidelines and after another week of training he should be ready to get some minutes under his belt.

Perth Glory possible starting lineup:
Cook; Elsey, Forde, Bodnar; Beevers, Lachman, Amini, Clisby; Williams, Taggart, Duncan

Western United possible starting lineup:
Young; Risdon, Lacroix, Imai, Garuccio; Pierias, Doumbia, Lustica, Pain; Wales, Botic

We say: Perth Glory 3-1 Western United

Perth Glory have got great attacking qualities and that is something that should be able to push them over the line in this fixture.
