Italian trailblazer Jasmine Paolini and Czechwoman Barbora Krejcikova stepped foot onto Centre Court for the 2024 Wimbledon Ladies' Singles final, where a brand-new champion of the All England Lawn Tennis Club would be crowned in the British sunshine.
An enticing affair between two first-time finalists concluded a rather strange two weeks of top-level women's action at SW19, where the weather was often the talk of the town, but so were a plethora of injuries; Madison Keys tearfully retired from her last-16 match, while Aryna Sabalenka pulled out before her first-round contest.
With neither Iga Swiatek nor Coco Gauff living up to the pre-tournament hype either - and 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova falling at the first hurdle - Paolini and Krejcikova earned themselves a shot at stardom, and the 2024 final certainly lived up to the billing.
However, after a chaotic three-setter in which Paolini would fight back from a dismal first set, it was Krejcikova would become the seventh new Wimbledon champion in as many years, while also clinching her second major singles crown after her 2021 French Open success.
